Nzoner's Game Room>Lamar Jackson wasn't, isn't, and never will be better than Patrick Mahomes
Wallcrawler 09:14 AM 01-16-2020
This "Lamar Jackson is in the same league as Mahomes" nonsense on every football related show I see needs to stop.

Lamar Jackson, on the biggest stage, has now shit down his leg in both opportunities. Lamar is a player who has to have everything around him working perfectly to have success. Put him down 2 scores and ask him to carry the team, he cannot answer the bell.

There's a big difference between a running quarterback, and a quarterback who can run. Lamar Jackson and The Ravens ran 88 plays and put up 12 points.

Jackson attempted 59 passes, only threw one touchdown, but also threw two picks and lost a fumble. 12 points on 59 pass attempts should tell you all you need to know about Lamar as a QB when the lights are the brightest.

Nobody would bat an eye if before the game, soneone told us Pat would put the ball up 59 times. Matter of fact, id be pretty excited to see how many points and yards he would put up in that span of plays.

When things got bad for both QBs, you saw the odds on favorite to win the MVP this year get visible frustrated, press, and ultimately fold. He was nowhere to be seen trying to work out what was happening, rallying his team, he simply pouted on the sideline as his team fell further behind.

The reigning MVP had literally no quit. Its one thing to say after the fact, that we had faith all along, its quite another for that to be true.

Down 24, think about that for a moment. 24. Mahomes is captured, in that moment on the sideline saying we have everything we want. Everyones already counted us the **** out, so go do something special.

Then, to walk the walk after talking the talk, leading the team to 7 straight touchdowns and 8 scoring drives, throwing 5 touchdown passes, and displaying a fiery emotion that if you dont feel anything when you see this kid going nuts after a huge play, call the coroner, because youre already dead.

The two qbs could not be further apart. Jackson cannot hold Mahomes jock when it comes to putting the team on his back.

Lamar should consider signing with KC as a running back. Its the only way barring injury to Mahomes, that hes ever getting a ring.

Mahomes is the MVP. Its not even close. Lamar is a running back executing the halfback pass play about 20-25 times a game.

Jacksons first two years have ended with dud playoff performances.

Mahomes first two years as a starter sees his team hosting back to back AFC title games for a frachise that in its entire history never hosted a single one before he arrived.

They are so desperate to prop this kid up. It's beyond annoying.

I really want to face the Ravens in the playoffs so we can continue to embarrass him and watch the media pivot, but I know that's just not going to happen. The Chiefs will have the bye, and the Ravens will lose in the wild card round.

Hell, they might not even win their division if teams truly have figured them out. The Browns might even finish ahead of them in the standings if they get their defense tweaked by the end of the year, because that running game can win them a lot of regular season games.

Same guy. Exact same guy.

But the 'skins got behind 21-7 and so Jackson got to do what he WANTS to do in the 2nd half.

I'm just so very over the Lamar Jackson hype train. "Lamar Bounces back with monster effort..." oh for ****'s sake. He was probably the 15th most productive quarterback in football yesterday. 10 dudes throw for 300 yards and Jackson can't get over 200 but sprinkles in 1 good run and he was a monster. I mean his stat line was essentially Daniel Jones but whatev.

Just a complete joke.
I honestly don't know why I let it rile me up so much. I think a big part of it is knowing these talking heads aren't just putting on an act when they prop up Jackson. You can genuinely tell they want Jackson to be better than Mahomes. I know a lot of it is for show because they need to keep this supposed 'rivalry' alive, but you can see that a lot of them are truly disappointed that PM2 keeps beating Jackson.

Patrick is so ridiculously good there is a huge chunk of people in the media that seem to actually dislike him for it and root against him. I get that comes with the territory of being the best, but it's still annoying as hell especially since Patrick literally does everything right on and off the field.

It's all an act, man. They are paid actors. You're better off ignoring it, but I do like the fact Mahomes and his teammates seem to be motivated by media commentary. You need a chip on your shoulder, especially after you've won the Super Bowl. It's hard to stay driven, so I am glad the players are latching on to whatever they need to keep themselves very focused.

Having competition for Mahomes is good for their ratings. Who would tune in for a “debate show” when there is nothing to debate? Get used to it. It’ll be like this for his entire career.

If the 90’s Bulls teams played today, you’d see the exact same thing with Jordan.

The good news is that a lot of these clowns routinely ruin what little credibility they have. Colin Cowherd is a good example. He’s face planted several times for doubting Mahomes.

I could see the Patriots knocking them out in the Wildcard, or something along those lines.

PTI has made it work for years. It's a sports talk show. It doesn't have to be point vs counter-point every single time.

Then again, Wilbon and Kornheiser have known each other for decades at the Washington Post, and they've been doing their show for almost 20 years. When they disagree, they actually disagree, and sometimes the natural drama of the disagreement boils into a shouting match, but you never at all get the sense that it's staged in any way like it is on these other garbage shows.

But a lot of the time it's just a, "Hey, this thing happened. What does this mean?" "Hey here's something else that's interesting..."

Yeah, I agree on Wilbon & Kornheiser. At one point, I remember they talked about Mahomes and they just sort of threw up their hands and said..."He's the best, he just is." There was no bullshit attempt to try to downplay how good he is, which we see on all the other shows.

Dude is elite against everyone but the Chiefs :-)

Check out these flicks from Lamar. One rolling right, one rolling left. pic.twitter.com/hgGjiKwPJc

Sweet passes.

The Chiefs are in his head.

Nice throws.

He still only threw for 193 yards and had a pick. He wasn’t exactly elite in that game either. If Chase Young plays, they probably struggle again in that one.

Way to handle the loss today.

"I feel like people want us to lose.". Lamar said after the game.

What a fucking bitch.

Keep in mind lamar is doing this with an elite running game and defense. Things will get real real interesting once he gets paid. Will it be next year? I sure hope so.

Overpaying this guy will be the end of the Ravens for the duration of that contract. Unless he somehow develops an ability to throw to players other than backs and tight ends, He's not winning anything.
