It's not just who they're beating, it's how they're beating them.
The team looks good. Allen is delivering strikes. The receivers are getting open. The pass rush is getting home. They look well coached. Give them credit where it's due.
But none of that means they're unbeatable or the Chiefs can't beat them.
I'm looking forward to seeing them play against some real defensive talent. [Reply]
Are the Dolphins legit? If so, you might be right.
But for 15 years the only 'storms' the Patriots ever weathered involved snow. Your division makes such a big difference.
I never thought I'd long for the days of Brady being in the AFC East, but it sure would be nice if someone can stand toe to toe with Buffalo and at least make them sweat a bit.
Are the Patriots that much worse than last year? They did beat the Bills once. [Reply]
Reid is the better coach, Mahomes is the better qb. Hard for me to pick anyone over Reid and Mahomes, especially Sean McDerpit and Wild Thing Josh Allen.
We are much faster on defense this year as well. We will see how Allen fares against a defense that doesn't bear the stench of Sorensen, Nieman, and Hitchens. [Reply]

And that certainly doesn't speak to the Lamar Jackson love-fests.
I can actually tolerate the Allen vs. Mahomes stuff because Allen is the closest to Mahomes in the league right now. I don't love folks that try to demean Mahomes to build up Allen, but I live with it.
But trying to put Lamar Jackson in the same breath as Mahomes drives me nuts. And hell, after what happened against Miami, you have to wonder if Jackson can even be counted on to win games from in front at this point.
Because that was one thing I never questioned. If you give Jackson a lead in the 2nd half, I never doubted that he would put it away. But lord, if he's blowing double digit 4th quarter leads to Tua?
You gotta at least be good at the thing you purport to be good at... [Reply]

No.
But I'd say the Bills are better than last year and the Patriots are not. Moreover, I think Belichick may be nearing his sell-by date. Feels like someone like Trent Brown would never have 'had beef' with Belichick in the past. It's just not something that was tolerated.
Now he's got his OL coach out there running cover for his effort level while the organization has committed to him at LT.
BB may not have the energy for this shit anymore. And who could really blame him? It's been a long fall for a guy who really has nothing left to prove to anyone. At a point you have to ask yourself if it's really worth it anymore to grind your way to 9 win seasons with a fungible quarterback. [Reply]

Yeah... hell, Josh Allen has twice the number of rushing attempts and yards than Mahomes in his career and only rushed for 4 yards less than Lamar Jackson last season.
If we're looking for 'non-traditional style', Allen would be higher on that list than Mahomes. [Reply]

Yep. I don’t think it’s a “skill set” thing. They’re just trying to drum up interest in anyone not named Mahomes. The NFL has a vested interest in making sure there’s MULTIPLE young QB’s that are “must see TV” because the days of Brady and Rodgers are ending. [Reply]

Cowherd always brings up Mahomes mechanics while gushing over the way Herbert and Allen throw Sean Peyton cut through his bullshit and told him Mahomes was the best. Jimmy Johnson tells everyone that if he were to choose a franchise QB he’d go with Herbert regardless of his lack of success. The talking heads spent more time this week whining about Mahomes near interception than they did about Herbert’s dumbass decision to throw it to a receiver who was clearly gassed. [Reply]

In terms of throwing the ball Allen and Herbert have the kind of skill set they prefer. [Reply]

They basically look like us in 2018 but with a defense. [Reply]

Of course, LA looked like the better team until the 4th quarter on Thursday.
Not so sure I agree with that. KC dominated the Cardinals and beat the LAC. I will say that the Chargers are significantly better than the Titans who have a year older Tannehill, a Henry who is coming off a significant injury, and they traded away their best receiver. The only reason why many don’t think KC is not as dominant is because they didn’t blow out a very good LAC team that is easily talented enough to win the AFC. The Chargers loaded up to beat KC and still couldn’t do it. Buffalo looks really good, not unbeatable. [Reply]

I didn't see every minute of the game the other night, but I thought the score was more impressive than what I actually saw. I think a lot of the good teams would embarrass the Titans at home right now.
They've been good, and I'm fine with them being the betting favorite, but there seems to be the idea that they're on a completely different level than last year. I don't see that. Why would they be? Von Miller has made their pass rush stronger, but what else have they done to improve by leaps and bounds? [Reply]

That’s why I said the Bills LOOK like the better team. You can only play the teams on your schedule and the Bills have roundly trounced their competition.
That doesn’t mean they ARE the best team, they just look the part. [Reply]
