OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Sean Payton and Arians wanted to trade up and take this kid.

Pretty sure they know more than Knowmo or Zman.

But neither coach/team traded up.

Mahomes has a chance but stop acting like he's a Sure Thing.

Why would they have traded up? They were drafting at 11th and 13th overall, and I doubt they expected the Chiefs to come up all the way from 27 to 10.

He's not a sure thing, no one is.

Well, if they actually WANTED him.

Duh.

More than likely.

But one thing is 100000% sure: Mahomes will NOT be boring the piss out of me on Sundays in the year of our lord 2018.

Fact, not fiction.

We have no idea what those guys were thinking, offering or considering when it came to mahomes. I'm sure if he would of been there they would of jumped and drafted him.

Maybe our offer was too good to pass up? Who knows for sure? Can't speak in absolutes when we don't the all the information....

You're right, there is a lot of missing pieces to that puzzle which one would need to come to a conclusion.

The Chiefs were in such a great spot to trade up though, much more so than most teams. With so much good young talent already on the roster and very few if any key FAs hitting the market next offseason, it was the perfect time to sacrifice some draft capital to move up to 10.

It was a no brainer move and one of the biggest moves, potential impactful moves in the last 4 decades...

I still can't believe it happened...

Can you please show me where exactly in this article Cain Fahey uses "facts and statistics" (your words) to back up his argument rather than handpicked gifs and youtube clips?

We're asking you to prove that Mahomes is bad at rolling out to his left, and we provided example gifs of when Mahomes does rather well rolling out to his left. You said individual gifs and videos aren't good enough evidence and posted an article as a rebuttal, but all your article does is use gifs and videos to demonstrate why Mahomes is bad when rolling to his left.

Who said he's a sure thing? Or is acting like it?

What WAS said was, "Arians and Payton had high interest in drafting Mahomes with their lower-mid first rounders, and they probably know more Knowmo and raidertrolltard when it comes to assessing risk/reward of drafting QB prospects

I would suggest reading approximately 3,000 posts since he was drafted, indicating he's the Super Bowl answer and in some cases, this year.

KC Tattoo and Coogs are the clubhouse leaders, with many shortly behind.

True, I agree that the "I don't see any reason why he can't/shouldn't start this year!" posts are coming from the homercampus area of the brain. They're not thinking through the logical consequences of what effect that would likely have on Mahomes.

I did, do, and am, though I don't feel the need to make a daily case of it.

The shame of it all is that there will be no competition for the starting spot. Smith will be given gallant gentleman leave, and the transition will simply occur.
I would rather witness Mahomes pounding Smith in to a cosmic dust fart, stating his case quite plainly for all skeptics, but it won't go down like that.

"QB competition" simply does not exist in Chiefland, and likely never will.

I do not advocate for a start this season, though.
