Looking at what the Broncos gave up to get him, they better damn well make a Super Bowl in the next couple of years or they basically shot their shot for nothing and have nothing to use to rebound from it.

That's an impossibly high bar with so many good young QB's in the AFC.

If your goal is simply to improve on the recent past, then yeah, I think they have a good chance at that.

But to get a real return on investment, they need SO much more and that's where we part ways.
I don't think you make this trade without thinking it is part of a plan that gets you to the SB in 2-4 years.

You think this roster will be able to get to a SB in 2-4 years? With no first or second round picks for the next 2 seasons? You seem confident in Pay a Tons drafting ability? But how? You’ve barely seen anything from him yet? Is it wishful thinking??

Can you outline said SB plan without:

1. Expecting a first time coaching staff with a new system to be top 8?

2. Expecting both WRs/DEs to remain healthy...which they've never done?

3. That your OL dramatically improves without the addition of anyone of significance?

4. That Wilson can be first 1/2 of 2020...without falling off a cliff then having the worst 4 game stretch of his career once teams adjusted. He's had 22 games since that excellent start and hasn't been able to replicate it. It's appearing that was more of a mirage than the norm...he was so bad, so fast, that Carroll had to pull the plug on the "let Russ cook" experiment.

5. Building the team without high draft capital or the finances to add top FAs?

I said that from the perspective of those that made the trade... I don't think you make a trade like this without the goal being a SB appearance/win during that window.

My view - he's by far the best QB they've had since 2016 and since they apparently cannot draft one, you buy one. They still have draft picks and there's FA to build around what they have now.

I honestly don't know how you look at the AFCW, and AFC in general, and think going all-in like this ends up being a success.

Do you honestly think Denver is built to win a Super Bowl right now? How are they going to be better next year without any top draft picks?

This reeks of desperation. As Chiefs fans, we have 30+ years of real world experience here.

What about their recent drafts make you think they're going to be able to draft without 1st or 2nd-round picks? They're late round picks have been pretty meh.

And you can't participate fully in FA when your QB is taking up over 15% of your cap.

They purposefully lowered Wilson’s cap hits the next 3 years to $17M, $22M and $35M.

They are gonna try like hell to buy players like they did before with Ware, Ward and Talib.

And I'll ask you the same thing - do you honestly think that will work?

You have said "next two seasons" a few times, to be clear.. they lost picks this year and in 2023 (next season). 2024 they have all their picks.

And again, you're taking my comments about the front office and saying MHM made the claim of 2-4 years. Again, I don't think you can make this trade as a front office without the thinking that it puts you in the SB in the near term, 2-4 years.

And, yeah my expectation because they made this trade is that they get above .500 this year, are more competitive and put themselves into a position of attracting FA players next year that push them deep into the playoffs.

May not, but you never know until you try. You have to have top QB play and a window of a few years in order to do that. Nothing is guaranteed, but suggesting Wilson is just done and no better than what they've had... as some have mentioned is crazy.

Agreed... the AFC and the AFCW specifically are brutal. I've never said Denver was built to win a SB right now. I have said I see 10 wins and no playoffs this year.

The Broncos couldn't dream of competing without a much better QB. They couldn't draft one, so they traded for one. Does this put them in the SB this year or next year? No. I've never said it would get them there. They're more than a QB away from advancing to and winning a playoff game. Slightly different scenario than when they signed Manning, that team was more complete and ready for a run.

The comment I made that some of you are stuck on was about the team's front office. I said they had to view this as a win the SB in 2-4 years moment, so they made the trade. If they didn't think that could happen, they wouldn't have made the trade. That was the intent of my comment.

Worked in 2015. Rams also did it though they drafted a bunch of their studs.

Their owner is filthy rich so they’ll try to pay more guaranteed to lower cap hits.

Doesn’t mean that it will work though.

You still haven't answered the question.

We all know you think they're built to win a SB in the next 2-4 years. The question is HOW you think they're going to do that. Because the path to get there looks bleak.

The 2015 Broncos didn't TRADE for Manning, they acquired him in FA.

There's a huge difference.
