No, it's clear that you don't like soccer and don't follow it yet want to have a strong opinion about it. Soccer is very popular with young kids because it's an excuse to just run around a ton. You're stuck in the 80s. Of course it's not the big 3 but the idea that kids are getting mocked and teased for playing soccer is ridiculous and shows your opinion is more disdain for the sport than it is critical commentary.
I'll bust this myth wide open with an obvious point. We have a shitload of Hispanics in this country and growing. That population alone is way bigger than the countries we are losing to. And I can guarantee you soccer holds a very high place with them. There is plenty of exceptional athletic talent to go around even if a lot of elite athletes are playing big 3 sports. Sure we'll never be world favorites but we also shouldn't be this bad. And our biggest obstacle the past 2 decades has been corrupt and incompetent leadership, not talent (except where talent is held back because of corrupt leadership) [Reply]

it's just amazing how this is somehow a discussion.
look, we aren't world beaters. i think there's a good argument this generation was overhyped. but there is literally no excuse for this copa america performance. none. this isn't about living up to the hype anymore; this is about self-respect as a program.
we've had worse teams get better results in tournaments, look more organized, and show more discipline. i'm not asking for the USSF to find a miracle worker, but there at least has to be some consequence for getting embarrassed on home soil, in the 2nd biggest tournament this team can play in. there is nothing that can be gained from keeping gregg on now. on one hand, I agree that Berhalter should be gone (I asked for this 2 years ago).
On the other hand, the group that had mexico and jamaica in the same group was worse than USA's. [Reply]
