Media Center>MCU Meta Discussion

The various movies obviously deserve their own threads once things actually start moving on them, but it seems like we should have a place just for general discussion about what they're planning. So here ya go.

What If...? begins in August while Disney+ has said that both Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel will debut before the end of the year, but no hard date has been set for either series.

Shang Chi is September 3rd, The Eternals is set for sometime around Thanksgiving, No Way Home is like December 17th, Dr. Strange 2 is March 2022 while Thor 4 is May 2022. Ant-Man 3 is 2023.

That's all I can remember off the top of my head.

I was thinking recently about how Marvel keeps beating DC to the punch in the movies. Obviously doing Avengers before DC could do JLA, but also things like Civil War before Batman v Superman, Thanos before Darkseid, Eternals before the New Gods. I've been saying for 10 years that the multiverse is the one trump card DC still had over Marvel, and now they've dicked around so long Marvel is taking that one too. DC had a multiverse since the 1950s!

It's crazy to think about, because it was all right there for DC. Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman movies building to JLA, then Darkseid, then Crisis. It was really a much more natural fit for DC than Marvel.

There's a rumor going around that an unexpected character will appear in Hawkeye.

Huge problem? Nothing like overstating the issue at hand. Contracts will evolve while existing ones will likely get worked out in court like this one.

The HBO model of just letting all subscribers view new release movies seems like more of an issue than the Disney Plus model. Even that can potentially be monetized by actors/directors/producers if the will is there.

Yeah, it's a lot of words that basically just say "lawyers have some work to do."
