Last thread has well over 10,000 replies. Its body is breaking down like The Undertaker's. Seeing as we might have crossed the threshold into a new era in the business, here's a fresh new thread.

It's unfortunate that modern fans have made roles like the one he had to be a despicable place to be, because even after he fell down the card to what we derisively refer to as "Jobber to the stars", he was on TV and PPVs a pretty damn steady amount. Need the newest monster heel to look like a killer? Virgil was always one of, if not the first guy that person faced and even though he'll never be considered overly talented, he was a steady hand and usually did his job well. His nWo role was fine and kinda necessary.
He became a punchline over the years, but I have to respect him for leaning into it. [Reply]

I think it's more because he seemed to take himself super seriously after retiring.
That, and he was a pawn to first make fun of WCW ("Virgil" Runnels), then went to WCW to be a pawn to make fun of WWF ("Vincent" McMahon). And it wasn't that his character was a jobber, it was that they booked him in storyline to always be treated like a little bitch (Million Dollar Man, NWO) [Reply]

they aren't posing as "sports" and I don't watch sitcoms. Movies are fake, yes. It's called fiction. WWE or whatever they call themselves these days tries to be part of sports. It's not.
It doesn't surprise me that you like it though. [Reply]

It's weird to me that people always say this.
It's a series TV show with athletic stunts. TV shows have predetermined outcomes. I don't get why grown men watch TV shows where the outcomes are predetermined. :-) It's entertainment just like anything else from Hollywood [Reply]

Because apparently a tv show that involves athletic ability has to somehow be a sport. [Reply]

It's called WWE
World Wrestling ENTERTAINMENT
The "wrestlers" haven't been called "wrestlers" in 25 years. They are referred to as "superstars". It's not sports. [Reply]

I didn't say it was a sport. The organization clearly projects itself as such. You like socialism too, so like I said, I'm not surprised you like it. Seems like a waste of time to me (and most adult men) [Reply]
