I could have the day wrong. She might have said Tuesday.
Either way, they have stayed home for every hurricane that has hit since they moved down there 25 years ago. [Reply]
Some of you have been to Anna Marie island to visit. Really cool town. Has a Key West feel to it. One of the reasons it’s so cool is that they have these unique houses everywhere. Hers one that’s gone. The old rod and reel pier is just gone.

When I worked for the military they came to me and said you have been declared an "essential civilian" for the military.
When I asked what does that mean, they said you cant leave town if there is a hurricane. I was like what? I'm a civilian with a family. Ohhhh no worries, we will house you and the family in a hurricane proof place on base, If you cant make it, we will send troops and or helicopters to get you on base if needed. Do I get a raise? they laughed and said no. [Reply]
Sooo glad to hear all of these stories that "weren't so bad"
But maybe just maybe the weather channels were doing a good deed by overplaying it a bit much... it got people out of their homes and safe, come on back when its safe, DeSantis isn't allowing any looting [Reply]

This was not overplayed. It was the worse hurricane to ever direct hit this area.
Could you use some help? You can find disaster relief assistance here:

I'm not saying they did, because history shows that it's extremely hard to predict the weather and little things can cause big changes between what's forecast to happen and what actually happens, but there is nothing good about meteorologists over playing the severity of a storm. All it does is makes sure people won't listen the next time when a storm is actually extremely deadly. [Reply]

Who said you could come sit at the adults table? [Reply]
We will leave tomorrow for home. Hopefully have power by then.
We hired our lawn guy to chainsaw some stuff and clean up the yard. We also had some neighbors chip in to clean up our yard. Also, took down some of our hurricane prep of our house. All the garage prep was taken down by a neighbor. Neighbors helping neighbors. When we get back we will have to pay it forward too.
Maybe this was to help the old retired couple situation. Either way I’ll take it and pay it forward. [Reply]
