If the Chiefs get the 2nd seed...they can likely rest their starters week 18. That game would be against the Donks...fighting for their post-season lives. If Denver were to win, they would play a rested KC the very next week @ Arrowhead. Two weeks to game plan in earnest while playing vanilla in the first meeting...Donks cant hold anything back.
Conversely, there is a chance the Ravens might be the lowest seed remaining after the first week of the play-offs. They would travel to the Bills. KC might see the Texans in week 2...
Bills lose to Ravens, KC gets HFA for the AFCCG...
Chiefs are in a good position to get a least some rest either way...obviously a first round bye is preferable but the 2nd seed might not be terrible either. [Reply]

Like any of us have any bearing on how the team is going to perform down the stretch...
Chiefs won on a last second blocked FG against ****ing Bo Nix...then lost the following week. They arent currently lighting the world on fire and have 4 consecutive games against potential playoff teams and 3 games in a 10 day span....that's reality.
They are going to have to start playing a lot better to keep the #1 seed...they've looked lethargic for a month.
I frankly dont give a flying shit either way...they were the 3rd seed last year....didnt realize it was such a sensitive topic to point out the 2nd seed isnt the end of the world.
Sounds like a lot of poster's identities are tied to KC being having the bestest regular season record....that's their sad "beta" problem.
Looks like someone is choosing to wear their brown pants the rest of the season. [Reply]
No, the way we’ve been playing we could lose to whoever the 7 seed is in the WC round, or get an injury. Let those teams beat up on each other for a weekend. Then we’ll step in and crush souls! [Reply]
That's basically been my "don't freak out if the Chiefs lose the 1 seed" scenario... whoever loses the AFCN would most likely go to Buffalo, and who would really be shocked to see the Bills lose that game and the AFCCG hosted at Arrowhead again. [Reply]
Though I'm starting to realize that getting the #2 seed was fine when the top two seeds had a BYE. The BYE is more important than the home field advantage part.
Now it's paramount to be the #1 seed because only that team gets a BYE.
This season it's even worse because the Chiefs BYE week came after week 5. And they have that dumb Christmas schedule coming up. This team will need a break. Last year the pieces fell into place being healthier than the opposition in the first two playoff games and getting a weakened Miami team here in that freezing game. The first playoff game will be tougher this year with familiar opponents like Denver or LA possible. [Reply]
The two seed would NEVER be better than the one seed... Ever. One more game for possible injuries. Reid is great off a bye week. Only 2 games to go to the SB, both at home. [Reply]
