Nzoner's Game Room>A Level Headed Review Week 9 2024
DenverChief 10:29 PM Yesterday
Going to try something a little different...

WR corps - I'l be honest I'm not sure if we need another WR or not - feels like it would be a nice security blanket to have another WR besides Ross/Remigio/Washington. DeAndre Hopkins really does catch everything thrown to him, the rainbow pass for 35 yards to Hopkins was disgusting and he literally caught everything Pat threw to him (8/9 86 yards 2 TD's). Worthy needs to work on his sideline awareness a couple of passes he should have had were negated by his feet being too close to the boundary. Watson really made his presence felt as well with 3 receptions on 4 targets for 43 yards.

TE's - It always seems like Kelce fumbles as he just tries a little too hard for extra yardage but his production was good tonight with 14/16 for 100 yards. I think he may be pressing a bit thinking he needs to help shoulder a bigger load. Grey was quiet tonight with only one target and no receptions. Payton Hendershot makes an appearance on the last drive with a 9 yard catch.

OL - I didn't get an opportunity to really watch what was happening on the OL but Vea is a force in the middle really collapsing the pocket and forcing Mahomes into a couple of sacks. I'll have to re-watch to get a really good idea of what specifically was happening.

ST's - pretty good for the most part but not kicking the ball out of the Endzone seemed pretty questionable at the start of the second half. Should always just kick it out of the back of the end zone. I feel like I know why they got lucky on the bounce on the previous KO that skipped in the EZ for the touchback and start at the 20. Trying to replicate that burnt us and let the Bucs start the 2nd half at the 50.

Defense - played really well despite giving up 3 TD's. I didn't feel like the problem was with the CB's this game but the Bucs had their top three receivers out of the game so that may have masked some of the deficiencies. The last drive was really sloppy defense giving up really big chunk plays...... Still personally on the Lattimore train if he is available....but if we decide to stand pat I think we will be okay.

Not sure why we got away from the running game in the first half, but Andy really switched it up in the second half and started ramming Hunt down their throats which really worked well (27 rushes for 106 yards and 1 TD). I didn't get a chance to look at the halftime rushing stats but it wasn't pretty.

OT - A steady dose of Hunt with a sprinkling of Kelce and Hopkins = WIN

Also what are Saced?

Other than the 4th and goal part that’s a pretty good head start.

Vs risk losing the toss and what happened here.
The coin toss has the same odds as converting the two point attempt. You are just taking the gamble earlier.

Justin Watson is an underrated weapon.

Tonight it was really just lazy on him now getting the feet in. Running that route from right split there is no excuse to not get the feet down.

Not melting down but he needs to start improving in those areas.
I agree. But…..Mahomes had 15 yards to work with. Worthy was wide the fck open and Mahomes throw pinned Worthy right on the sideline making it a tough catch that never should have been a tough catch.

Slightly concerned about not being able to get a first down to ice the game and then allowing the Bucs to stroll down the field for a TD. It should have not come down to overtime.

OH! - Hey one more thing - we lost the TO battle again thanks to Kelce fumble BUT Pat had his first INT free game of the season....11 TD's to 9 INT on the season.

Not worried about it - they wanted to salt the clock with the first two runs - TB knew it was coming and prepped for it. The third down play call was brilliant but the ball was a little too slippery and Perine started looking up field a hair to early and dropped the pass. On a regular night that would have been a 1st down and iced the game. Nothing that was really pressing IMO

Also can we talk about Peyton Hendershot getting some playing time? He has more passes caught than Wiley.

Apparently Kelce is one of 5 guys that have caught 10 balls in a game after the age of 35.

Wow. One of those was after he put a rushing defender on the dirt.

Mahomes is filthy. Live it sure felt like when we faltered it was a dumbfuck playcall.

Hats off to the Bucs. They needed it and played like it. That's a tough out. But we got it done.

This. I mean I was glad they didn’t go for 2 but the narrative will be that Bowles lost the game there. Bowles lost a 50/50 chance to take a lead. That’s it.

TB's defense had been on the field for 73 plays before OT. And had given up 14 pts in the 4th quarter. And his defense was giving up an average of 18-pts in the 2nd half this season. Over 20-pts over the last 4 games. I think that's the worst in the NFL.

He should've tried to steal the W with the 2-pt conversion.

Nah we don't. Only facing one guy down the stretch that we might need a corner. We good. It's going to be a horrible stretch of weather going forward and few teams are as equipped to survive as we are. Maybe Baltimore in the playoffs but Lamar kinda fades and sucks in the cold on the road. it's all about pressure and disruption. We have that and then some.

Happy for the dude. Wasn't he the guy that pushed back on the Ravens after they did the sideline cheap shot on Mahomes?

Best you can say about Worthy is his speed has been a useful distraction/deterrent. But I think some were way too high on him coming out. He's got a fair way to go, strength, hands, route-running, it's all a work in progress and it was always going to be this. But it's a shame he's been less productive than a guy like Coleman so far.

Hopkins on the other hand, is that guy.

It was a tough outing for Worthy. But it was raining and the ball was getting pretty slick. Didn't help that Pat threw some off-target balls to him either. And he is a rookie. It was always going to take some time for him to develop. Injuries put him in the position of having to grow up faster than originally scheduled. I mean, we got DHop for a reason.

Hopefully we get JuJu back soon, and Worthy can slow down some. By this time next season, he'll be fine.
