The #Chiefs and All-Pro DT Chris Jones have a blockbuster deal to keep him in KC, per his agents @KatzBrosSports. The top free agent is off the market and a huge move for the champs. pic.twitter.com/BHmM49TCtt

Chiefs and five-time Pro-Bowl DT Chris Jones reached agreement on a record 5-year deal that includes $95 million guaranteed and allows KC to keep its best defender before free agency begins, per his agents, @KatzBrosSports.

Deal is expected to be the highest average salary ever… pic.twitter.com/aRidQ0309z

Wow Veach unloaded the cap for the man. He paid him what he wanted.

I fully expect a Mahomes restructure tomorrow and a Sneed trade soon. Need to crush this next draft to offset this contract.

Love it! I know some are concerned about the cap hit and the long term viability, but Jones is a game-wrecking defensive player who was the 2nd most valuable player on 3 title teams and will undoubtedly be a key factor on more to come.

The specific details still are being finalized. But Chris Jones will sign a five-year deal in which all the money in the first three years - $95 million - is guaranteed. When the I’s are dotted and T’s crossed, Jones’ deal will include the highest-ever average annual DT salary. https://t.co/MUR4sQGcvC

That long of a deal hopefully the cap hit year one is a finger prick so we can go hard after the 3 peat.

Well ….shit. Good news I guess. He’s a great player and I’m glad he’s staying. Where’s all the salary cap experts??? Did we just F ourselves? Any money left for Sneed or a WR?

As long as he keeps making his huge impact in the playoffs, I'd say so.

Holy Shit!

5 years should give Veach the spread out the signing bonus....With the cap increasing 30 million a year, this could turn out to be a very reasonable deal by the end.
