Saw Garth brooks at the Linn co fair in the summer of ‘93, I think? I believe that was the year he won entertainer of the year. So he was kind of unheard of, sort of. That’s been I got my first job at a grocery store, and that’s all that played. So I started listening. It was okay. [Reply]
I'm just thankful we're in a country renaissance where you can find red-dirt and outlaw and hillbilly type shit if you put in a little work.
Wife has the local pop country station on sometimes and it's fucking Kane Brown and dude's named Bailey. And Morgan Wallen sucks a fat pair of nuts. Fuck that guy too. [Reply]

That's obviously over simplified, and probably it's nobody's "fault". There are just a lot of people in the US that like and will pay for shit music.
This is the appropriate view that many choose to ignore. There is just a lot of Garth hate out there for some reason. And you’re probably correct about Shania though, I feel like the music was slowly evolving (devolving?) in that direction already but, she very likely was the one to fully throw the doors wide open. I used to like Garth, he had some great songs, worshipped KISS and was a standout on SNL... then his politics soured me on him, couldn't look at him the same way after that

Her and like Jo Dee Messina are automatic outs for me. That bullshit will make me want to turn on Conservative Talk Radio. tl;dr: Like every other 90s kid, I'll blame my parents :-)
61 Country?? It was really repetitive in the 80s and 90s.. ran those songs into the ground.. [Reply]
