RunKC 12:58 PM 08-12-2024
Was traded to the NYJ 4 months ago :-)

Edge-rusher Haason Reddick now has officially requested a trade from the Jets, per sources.

Huh. May have actually been the agent fucking up. Told all parties involved what they wanted to hear and it's lead to this impasse.

Oh and he's disgruntled and we have a fragile locker room.

This will work great.
It must be so hard to be a fan of an NFL team that isn't the Kansas City football Chuefs.

I'd send them a 7th and give him a pay raise for the year

I can't even imagine.

I wouldn't be eager to give him the sort of contract he's looking for at all. Frankly, his 2023 was a step back from his 2022. He's almost certainly peaked already.

And as a guy who's something of a one-trick pass rush specialist, I just don't know how long he's going to last. Even a guy like Jerry Hughes, who had a hell of a long career as a 3rd down rusher, was awfully limited for 80% of his career.

I just don't think he's as good as he thinks he is.
^^^Further supported by the fact that a smart organization found a dumb one to trade him to

Patriots said to be listening to offers on Judon.

Thoughts?

Most of his money was in signing bonus so he's only due a $6 million salary this year. So you could give him a raise in terms of 2024 cash earnings without needing to really break the bank.

Lets say you can get him for a 4th and re-sign him to a deal like the one they gave Danna. Anybody interested? Let's say it's Ogunjobi's deal

3 years/$28 million with a $10.5 million signing bonus. That puts $12 million or so in his pocket this season (bonus plus base) and leaves us with a team option at $5 million for next season or about $7 million in dead space next season (so you probably retain him).

Where I think I'd probably draw the line is around Armstead's deal. 3/$43.5 with effective guarantees of 2/$30 million. The other issue is that I don't think he's ever really played with his hand on the ground at this level. I think he's pretty strictly a 2-point stance kind of player. So he wouldn't be any sort of base down solution for us.

Strictly as a 3rd/passing down specialist, does he really bring that kind of value to the table for us? Not sure he's an ideal scheme fit.

If he could put his hand in the ground....yes probably so.

The Omenihu injury just really put a hamper on that DE spot. I don't know if they really wanna expand resources or not with that happening now.

And I could certainly be wrong there, but I don't think I am.

As far as I can recall, he's always been more of an OLB in odd fronts. I think he has the tools to be a 4-3 DE, but he's never been asked to do it.

Melvin Ingram made that transition pretty well but he did it well before he got to KC. He did that in his last couple years with the Chargers. And he was a pretty similarly built/skilled player.

It's not impossible but it's definitely a risk. I'd sure have preferred he learn that sort of thing on someone else's dime.

Yeah, I was really hoping the Chargers were gonna cut Khalil, he'd have fit in pretty well here.

Carl Lawson got anything left in the tank? He'd probably not cost too much.

He's been at/near the top of my available FAs list for awhile now.

He looked to still be a solid player in 2022 but really fell off a cliff last year. Back issues, IIRC. And that's a pretty bad deal for a DE.

May not hurt to make a call. Try to find out a little more about what led to his no-show last season and see if you think there's another year of quality football in a rotational role there.

The Achilles took the ceiling off him but he was still a viable player 2 seasons ago. Was last year the end or did the back just keep him from ever getting up to speed?

His agency has been trying to broker a deal. Reddick has been dug in. The philosophical differences has now led to a parting of ways. https://t.co/1FdEVkmDfo

So the guys agent and agency drop him, he has lost almost $9 million this year. Oh, also if Reddick does not report at all this season, his contract will toll and the Jets will retain his rights in 2025.

Seems like life is working out really good for the guy
