A soon as he has a predictable season where he misses 8-9 games everyone will say the same thing.
You could say the same thing about nearly any top player.
And let's not confuse CMC with just any RB. He's also an elite pass-catcher; he's had a 1,000 yd receiving season. He can run every route on the tree, including option routes, can find the soft spots in zones as well as beat man/press. If he'd been a Chief last season, he easily would've been the 2nd best WR on the team. Maybe the 1st.
That's why I don't see a problem with him getting that kind of $$$, where I might with just about any other RB right now. He's not just a RB. He can line up as a WR and do everything a top-15 or -20 WR can. That crazy level of versatility is why they're paying him, not just because he's a great RB. [Reply]

Eh, not really. He played 812 snaps last season. He had two seasons with CAR well over that number (1039/966), so basically, since coming to SF, he's playing about 200 less snaps per season in SF. Shanahan has been 'load-managing' CMC's snaps. [Reply]

That might be debatable, but simply getting more rest per game does matter, imo. But based on touches, he's still been getting the ball less than he was in CAR when he was healthy.
That's another thing: in CAR he played dinged up a lot, which led to all those injuries. In SF, they don't play him injured, because they don't expect him to carry the entire team. They have a lot more quality options in SF than CAR did when he was there. [Reply]
It seems like a lot of money but look at the value he brings to the 49ers offense. Look at all the money these WR's are getting. Jaylen Waddle, really?? McCaffrey is absolutely more valuable to his team than Waddle [Reply]
