The #Chiefs are hiring Steve Spagnuolo as their new defensive coordinator, sources say. The former #Giants DC and interim HC/#Rams HC began his NFL coaching career as an #Eagles assistant under Andy Reid. Now rejoins Big Red in KC.

I have been tough on the defense this year, and I think they have given up too many points to teams with really bad offenses (Tampa, 2 games against Denver)....but I think they are starting to hit their stride.
Also, winning at turnovers really, really helps this defense more than most. Keep the number of posessions that the opponent gets really helps. Saw it today--the Faiders had two turnovers, we had none, and on the drives where the Faid did move the ball against us, we made them use up large chunks of clock and come away with either nothing (turnover on downs) or a FG (8 minute drive in the 3rd).
It was just really good to see them give up less than 20 points today, especially after letting a really bad Denver offense carve them up for 28 and 24 points this year (two highest point totals the :-) have had)
It's almost like football is still football. [Reply]
Hmmm. I wonder if there are any players on the D Line that have had a surge forward in effectiveness recently that would help explain some of that..... [Reply]
Too bad he ended his rookie season with a half sack less than Dungvers leader, and more sacks than anyone else on their team not named DreMont Jones! [Reply]

To me, they look like there's a lot of talent, speed, and attitude; but they are inconsistent. Which is what should be expected with SIX FUCKING ROOKIES in the top 12 players. [Reply]

Lol, Cullen is like 55 years old. If he were DC material, he wouldn't be the DL coach in KC. You act like you can install anyone in that spot. [Reply]

Cullen has been a DC, and spent several years on the staff of a very good Ravens defense.
He has made a dramatic improvement in the defensive line this year, including coaching up GK.
His age has nothing to do with anything.

Hurts had almost 400 yards from scrimmage and 4 TDs. A lot of it was the players executing poorly but there were some BAD concepts sprinkled in as well. [Reply]
