Wilson inst playing this year for $24 million...and definitely not for $27 million in 2023.
That's going to eat your available cap in a hurry....
His cap hit might actually go down next year depending on how they structure it. Denver's QB cap hit will be 10-20 million dollars cheaper than KC's will be for the next three or four years. [Reply]

Based on what? Your hopes and dreams?
KC is so much better-positioned for the future than Denver, it's not even funny. [Reply]

Based on how contract extensions usually work. The new money part of the contract is usually tacked on the existing one, and then they structure the cap hit to be low the first two years of the deal.
Russ' cap hit will be $24M this year, $27M in 2023, and then his new deal, with the low first/second year cap hits, will kick in in 2024.
Mahomes' cap hits will be $35M this year, $46M in 2023, and 44M in 2024. [Reply]

Based on what? The illusion that Wilson is going to play for $24-27 million a year?
He's going to be $45 million per at least....
Actually, Mahomes' contract is deliberately structured to move money around if needed..as I pointed out...Wilson's contract will be shorter...thus there isnt any wiggle room to massage it. It's $40-$50 million straight up..
Also Chiefs are replacing their expensive talent with 6 players in the 1st/2nd round this and next season...Donks gave away this ability.
So, like I said...you better hope this years team is kicking ass...it's as good as it's going to be for a while. [Reply]
Even if he is, so is every other elite QB who isn't on their rookie deal. Truly elite QB's are worth it, and Russ is one of those guys. Now, if Denver had to give Kirk Cousins that deal it would totally crater the team.

Too bad those picks are in the back end of round 1.
The Jags had a ton of picks too after trading Jalen Ramsay. They ended up trading the best CB in the league for K'Lavon Chaisson and Travis Ettiene. [Reply]

You are talking about a Chiefs team that just drafted the highest rated rookie center in NFL history...and replaced their entire OL in a single off-season...Also Bolton was only the 4th player in 20+ years in tackles and some other combined stat.
Chiefs picked up the #2 rated CB at pick 21...and have 12 picks next year.
I think they are going to be OK...certainly better than having zero picks in consecutive drafts.
Nice trying to use the ****ing Jaguars organization as a red herring...the team that is picking #1 overall two straight years vs.. 4 straight home championship games.
Just so you know.."elite" QBs win more than one WC game every 5 years.
I understand why the draft isn't a big deal to you...I mean when you pick the first WR off the board...and he accounts for 0 TDs...what difference does it make? Might as well just give them away to a team trying to dump their QB. [Reply]

Kudos on a good draft last year, but keep in mind, you guys hit on a center, a guard, and maybe an ILB. Those aren't exactly premium positions. You can find good players (maybe not Humphrey level) at those positions every year on day 2 and 3.
Let's not forget Veach's shaky draft history prior to 2021. His first and second round picks produced guys like Breeland Speaks, Clyde Edwards Helaire, Mecole Hardman, Frank Clark and Orlando Brown Jr.
This was in a bbq group I’m in. Of course the donkey boy is using pellets. When they say let Russ cook they’re talking about smoking pounds of cock on this flaming grill
