Given the Patriots truly terrible receiving options that day and Titans leading by 1 point...I'd rather be down 8 with at least a kickoff return left to score under the old kickoff return rules than have to go down 60 yards to kick a FG to win the game with only 15 seconds left to start the play from my own 1.

Throwing to Sanu from the 1 to the 10 yard line with just around 12 seconds left in the game when Brady threw the ball made no sense unless his purpose was simply trying to reward Sanu for playing hurt....so that Sanu could have been Brady's last completion in New England... a part of piece of trivia. Maybe some elaborate lateral play but players don't even seem positioned for that.

I'm curious since Brady played like almost a win at all costs robot over 99% of the time.

But I can't sit here and say Brady tried to throw a deflected pick 6 to setup a possible TD kickoff return and 2 point conversion since he is truly crazy good if he was good enough to throw a deflected pick and fool the Titans that he wasn't trying to just throw a pick to setup a kickoff return. Not even Brady is that good. .

If I'm Vrabel who was the Tennessee coach, I literally tell my players to not take an interception to the house.
I agree the Titans guy should have gone down at the 2-3 yard line. Keep the ball from going back to Brady in a 8 point game. Would have been one of the all-time game management blunders by Tennessee if New England pulled off a Hail Mary on the next possession.

Patrick’s going to go all out for a perfect season before his career is done. He’s already had five seasons where he hasn’t lost a regular season game by more than one score. He’s already had three where he hasn’t lost a regular season or playoff game by more than one score.

Missing a perfect season was Brady’s biggest regret of his career, he even admits he’d trade two of his championships to have won against the Giants. Patrick knows this, and I believe he’s going to go for the achievement that will undoubtably put his legacy in our league’s hallowed ground forever.
He's also had two seasons in which he only lost one regular season game. With rosters that had plenty of flaws. No reason to think an undefeated season is out of the question. If they can pull that off, to me it's more impressive than completing the threepeat.

Just play the Eagles' void years game, load up the roster and flamethrow everybody.

But Brady had plenty of help in those 2 games. It’s a team sport. He had a loaded roster in Tampa, while Mahomes had a messed up OL from bad luck with injuries. The Chiefs defense wasn’t exactly great in 2020. Mahomes himself was playing with turf toe that needed surgery right after the game.

And the 2018 game? Chiefs had one of the worst defenses in the NFL. Bill Belichick is one of the best defensive coaches ever. Despite this, Brady threw 2 interceptions and would have a game-ending 3rd interception if Dee Ford didn’t line up offsides. If we had the current Overtime rule, Mahomes would get a chance to touch the football in Overtime. He scored 24 points in the 4th quarter on Belichick’s defense. There’s reason to believe he would have matched the Patriots TD in Overtime. And see how it goes after that.
Then why were the Chiefs favoured in both games by Vegas? I remember how cocky some Chiefs fans were before SB55. They said Mahomes was going to put Brady in the retirement home.

Injuries? This is just an excuse. Injuries are apart of the game and every team has to deal with them. Brady didn't have his best offensive weapon (Gronk) for the majority of the 2016 season when the Pats came back from a 3-28 deficit to win SB51. Thats like Mahomes being without Kelce. GOATs find a way to overcome.

SB55 was a blowout too. Bucs won by 22 points. That only adds more value to the win for Brady.

I mean I was looking at Brady's stats in Tampa and its quite amazing. He threw for 40 TDs and 12 INT in 2020 and he threw for 43 TDs, 12 INTs and 5,316 yards in 2021. Insane stats, especially considering he was 43 and 44 years old during those two seasons. Lets see if Mahomes can do that, thats even if he plays when he is 43 and 44.

Show us how many playoff games… let alone Super Bowls… that Brady won with both of his starting tackles out with injuries.

As far as losing postseason games when favored… Brady is the GOAT in that category… losing as a 12 point favorite to the Giants in the 2008 Super Bowl… third biggest choke in terms of favorite losing in Super Bowl history.

I don't expect Mahomes to play that long. Brady was awesome in his later years. Mahomes will probably be done before age 40 if I had to guess. From my view, Mahomes is just trying to chase Joe Montana & Terry Bradshaw. Needs 1 more ring to catch them. Already passed Montana's 16 Playoff wins before the age of 30 and plenty of time to add a lot more Playoff wins by the time he reaches Montana's retirement age of 38.

That is not a choke at all. Brady put his team ahead 14-10 and in position to win the game. Then a once in a billion miracle play takes the SB away.

Come back to me when Mahomes does a perfect regular season. You can't play down that accomplishment.

I will admit that there was a lot of bullshit going on at the end of the Pats game with the Ravens in 2007. The Pats were more than lucky to win that game. If the Ravens didn't call that time out, the Pats would have lost.

Cheating makes Brady disqualified. Pats in general disqualified.

Mahomes is already in physical decline. He will be lucky to get to his mid-30s still playing at a high level.

:-) The Patriots averaged 37 PPG that season. In the Super Bowl against a 9-7 squad they only put up 14. 14! That’s 23 points less than their yearly average.
