Nzoner's Game Room>*****The George Karlaftis Thread*****
Dante84 09:16 PM 04-28-2022
More to come!

What are the #Chiefs getting in George Karlaftis?

Had an NFC Personnel executive tell me “He reminds me of J.J. Watt, when Watt was coming out. An explosive and versatile playmaker who has a high motor and can line up at 3,5, or 7. Very strong kid” #NFL #NFLDraft pic.twitter.com/5qM3g6OrMr

George Karlaftis was drafted with pick 30 of round 1 in the 2022 draft class. He scored a 9.23 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 116 out of 1503 DE from 1987 to 2022. https://t.co/iXXBvnoFJc #RAS #Chiefs pic.twitter.com/eZ9XjNRDUB

Spags said he was his top EDGE this year.

I don't think there was ever a question that Spags would love the guy. Apart from having slightly shorter arms, he seems like exactly what Spags is looking for in his DEs.

I wouldn't have expected him DE1, but it's not all that shocking either. That's a Spagnuolo guy through and through.

love it. I uh beg to differ on the TOP guy but maybe the top feasible target.

I'm sure he meant that they had a legit chance at getting.

LOL

Just wait. Don't put your foot in your mouth quite yet.
I mean there was some concern in the draft forum that he wouldn't be an upgrade on Danna.

Because...moron.

This seems likely.

Given that he said "of the guys I evaluated this year" -- I'd be surprised if he was getting in the weeds on Thibs and Hutchinson.

Maybe Walker and probably Johnson, though. He'd have been well into his draft prep by the time Walker exploded up the ranks.

"King George with the sack" has a nice ring to it.

George Brett was #5
George Karlaftis was #5 at Purdue
Patrick Mahomes was #5 at Texas Tech

Karlaftis was pick #30 in the 2022 NFL draft.

30 divided by 2 equals 15

It's a sign....

Bonus, Len Dawson also went to Purdue. :-)

I love the McD pick. He's the opposite of Peters - plays smart and takes advantage when the opportunity is there. Doesn't have to gamble because he can actually track the ball and get in position to win. Great in zone and can play man as well. Can be used a number of ways.

The Greek wouldn't have been my pick but it's not a disaster either. High motor, high effort, and has options if we change coords or to a 3-4 down the road.

I think the bust possibility for either of these guys is as close to 0 as any pick in round 1.

Now we need to take Cam Thomas in round 2...

Yeah, nah. Just didn't bother with Hutchinson and Thibedeaux is my guess.
