Not sure I’ve ever worried less about an opener post Mahomes
They’re clearly a rising team, with plenty of talent and potential… at least on paper
But the fact is they’re waaay behind our curve, Stefanski is in year two of a massive rebuild… meanwhile Reid has been fine tuning this jet engine for 8 years, and now he has Mahomes at the helm
I love seeing Cleveland be relevant again, no lie… but they have a less than 1% shot at stealing our home opener glory [Reply]

I bring up this video up again because I think Browns brought in secondary from Rams to run Rams defense. And the Chiefs will be facing this defense a lot this year. Not only from Cleveland but Chargers and Broncos in Division. It is made to confuse RPO's. It is there to confuse reads for deep passes. Now the Rams have the lions to run it. But the Chargers have the coach. And other teams are going this way with wrinkles that fit personnel. [Reply]

Bill Belichick is one of the greatest defensive minds of all time. And Andy Reid routinely torches him. He was doing it with Alex Smith before Mahomes came along. We now have one of the best young QBs in a long time. We will be fine. [Reply]

And Billy (and the goat) were good for halves against Chiefs by scrambling coverages. Rams are bringing a different iteration of jumbling coverages. And I am hoping that Reid tight end grouping and the change from zone blocking on the line is the counter. Those rookie lineman are just the physical presents for the change in line play [Reply]

You just hit the key in your first sentence (sans the GOAT patt if referring to Brady who had Jack to do with the defense). They succeeded......for a half. Then Reid figured it out and with Mahomes put on a show that abused Bill's defense. Reid is one of the most brilliant offensive minds of all time. You can criticize other aspects of his coaching, bit not offensive execution. He has put up superb offensive numbers with the likes of McNabb, Kolb, Vick, and Smith. Now he has a QB who is far better than any of them. This new scheme will not work for long if ever against this team. The ONLY way to shut down this offense is to get pressure on Mahomes with four rushers and hope he has an OLine consisting of backups protecting him. [Reply]
