Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy! [Reply]

If what KC has done to supplement this roster around PM isn't good enough for you or Pat or Pat's representatives....well you're gonna be awfully disappointed.
The NFL isn't designed for teams with no flaws. And this idea that the Chiefs have some shit-house roster being propped up by Mahomes simply isn't accurate.
Rice being taken out by Mahomes is in no way Veach’s fault.
The WRs likely would’ve been a really strong group if Rice stays healthy. Brown’s health is easier to criticize Veach for, because that’s easier to see coming. Still, Brown was on a “prove it” deal. I get why Veach would take that chance. [Reply]

Brady and Mahomes’ first 5 SBs, both are 3-2. [Reply]
We had no business winning the last two SB's with Juju as our #1 and last year with a rookie in Rice coming on late as the #1.
Mahomes dragged those teams across the finish line.
This year he didn't.
It would be interesting if we had managed to get to half time without those turnovers. Would we have figured it out? Based on how we came out 2nd half, I don't think we would have.
I'm quite happy with the back to back SB's and the 3 SB's so far.
Now Veach needs to fix the offensive line again. (And he did hit on Rice and Worthy which really helps as we have talented cost controlled WR room). [Reply]

Oh, I've been dealing with this for almost a decade and a half now in a different context. There is no logic to any of it and no way to ultimately "win."
Even if Mahomes ends up winning 8 SBs by some crazy chance, there will still be plenty that say he could never be better than Brady (a guy btw who wasn't even considered the best player at his position for the vast majority of his career) for some other contrived and manufactured reason. This is what happens when you try to chase down a mythologized ghost and not the reality of the player Tom Brady actually was. [Reply]

Might be. I'm not being critical of him whatsoever, it just seemed pretty obvious to me yesterday. [Reply]

Don’t forget the Saints trade.
Eagles got picks 18, 101, and a 7th in 2022 plus pick 10 in 2023 (which they moved up 1 spot for Jalen Carter).
They gave up picks 16, 19, and a sixth in 2022. [Reply]

I wouldn't exactly say that for last season given the elite defense, but still, that is an odd theme overall....
My confidence level before the first one was pretty neutral/happy-to-be-here, and they win.
The following year it was fucking through the roof and they lose badly.
Two years ago, as you said it was JJSS, Moore, and Toney at WR... and then last season they were 11-6 and left for dead by most of this board on Christmas.
And then this year.... everyone is getting healthy, a couple great warm up games in December, Mahomes looked fucking amazing in the AFCCG, feeling pretty damn good.... and we get Tampa II. :-) [Reply]

That's the thing, Brady only became this GOAT figure upon the 1st of his last three SBs. He wasn't looked as being anything like Mahomes is at the time he won his 3rd SB and Peyton Manning was widely considered the better QB of the two for most of their combined careers.
History has been revised to make this guy look like a better player than he actually was for most of his career. [Reply]

Mahomes is held to the highest standard. Standards no one else has ever been held to.
When someone else goes to 7 straight AFC Championships, let me know!
Don’t the Patriots hold the record for most consecutive AFCCG appearances? I think they’ve got a couple on us. I want to say they went to 9 straight once upon a time. [Reply]

I'm with you. Very fortunate to win the 3 Super Bowls. They were overmatched in the trenches of all 5 Super Bowl games. Somehow won 3 of them instead of losing all 5 of them.
Pretty fortunate to make it through AFC Playoffs this year with the worst LT/LG combination of any Playoff team. Amazing they made it that far in this circumstance. The other contending teams all have pretty good blind side protection for their QB's. I could easily see other teams with this situation getting knocked out in the Wild Card or Divisional round. I remember getting in an argument in high school (2007) about who was better between Michael Vick and Tom Brady. [Reply]
To me if he gets to 5 he's the GOAT. He plays harder teams than Brady. Brady was never challenged in his division and only like 2 Qbs to deal with in AFC. Manning and Ben. He lost to some really bad ones. Mahomes hasn't. [Reply]
