Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy! [Reply]

Dude can play man. Not saying he is great or elite but he is a good, solid, QB. Hopefully Holmes can become an elite QB but in the meantime I hope Alex can get us a SB and I believe he can if we don't get f***ed by injuries and Justin Houston returns to his old form.
I don't disagree here.
I just think, next level success - deep playoff run / Conference Championship Game / SB appearance (and hopefully win) - is not something that can be attained with him at QB. Yes, he performed well against Indy, and yes he was part of the win in Houston (the Chiefs were up so big and early, his role was literally as simple as hand off the ball, don't fumble the snap, and don't throw an INT on the slim change we actually throw the ball), but I just don't see him doing much at all against the good teams we'd see in the divisional and championship rounds.
I sometimes jump into the Alex sucks threads and pile on, but it's mostly just for entertainment and the LULZ. I don't think he 'sucks' . I think he is average to above average. But I don't think he's necessarily good, to really good either. Just sort of .....there....if that makes sense. And certainly not anywhere near worthy of his salary or cap hit (but that's a completely different topic altogether).
I've joked before that he's a 2 year old stock Honda Civic. Nothing wrong with a Civic; reliable, capable, predictable etc....but you're not winning any races with it either, unless the other car (team) blows up at the line. [Reply]
Just as we thought. This is a make or break year for Alex and Andy wasn't happy with Alex's play last year.
Either Alex plays well or he gets benched for Mahomes later in the season.
Yes, each week Alex Smith is going feel the pressure of being benched for the kid if he doesn't play well. So he is either going step up and actually play good or try to hard and start pressing and making mistakes that rookies make. Everything Alex Smith does is going be under a microscope and Patrick Mahomes II is just going be there if/when Alex Smith blunders and then make his opportunity count. [Reply]
If Alex Smith is putting up numbers like last year and Chiefs are struggling in the W column better think Andy may just make a switch at quarterback and it wont' be Tyler Bray. [Reply]

Every fucking player in the NFL has to feel pressure of being benched if they are not playing good. If Chiefs go mathematically out of playoff equation why the fuck would Alex Smith still be playing? Even if it is the last game of the season. He has to feel pressure to keep the team on track that is his job. [Reply]
So Alex Smith can throw 4 interceptions and we are losing 45-10 and he wont be benched for Patrick Mahomes II or Tyler Bray in the fourth quarter? [Reply]
I just don't want him rushed in and ruined. If Smith goes down and Andy doesn't think the kid is ready, throw Bray in there. F him, he can earn his paycheck for once. [Reply]

Well of course but when is the last time Smith threw 4 INTs in a gm? Lets be realistic here.
If we stay healthy we will be really good this year. [Reply]

I agree unless Patrick Mahomes II flats out beats Tyler Bray in preseason for the #2 spot and pushes Alex Smith. Then he would show he is capable of running the offense. I don't want it too soon either but I don't think late in the season is too soon. [Reply]

We got our junk kicked in against the Steelers last year on a Monday nighter and Alex played like shit like the rest of the team. So punting time and time again are like deep interceptions. They hurt. [Reply]

Loved Charles but he cost us a few game on his own [Reply]
"This 21 year old rookie NFL QB, learning a new offense, throwing to a bunch of other guys he's never played with, in shorts, over the span of a few days, after hearing 2nd hand from a guy who probably witnessed 5 total throws..........is a disaster."
god, KK is an idiot. of all the 'sports' guys in town, he might be the least knowledgeable on the subject of football. [Reply]

IT'S NOT ABOUT THIS SEASON!
Andy Reid isn't going to start a 21 year old kid that's barely started 2 years in college and NEVER PLAYED UNDER CENTER.
Your expectations are ludicrous.

That's also completely false.
Guys fall into ruts all the time. That doesn't mean they're benched.

First off, that's not happening. Secondly, if it DID (which it won't), the best move is to play Tyler Bray to find out if he can be the #2 QB when Mahomes takes over.
The Chiefs are NOT going to rush Mahomes development.

Yeah, that worked out really well when the Chiefs put in Brody Croyle versus the Steelers in a 45-7 loss.
