IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

I’m 100% against ever moving an OL out of a spot where they’re good again.

If a guy goes down, bring someone in for that spot.

Don’t move these guys around again. Let guys be good where they can. Don’t make multiple spots worse.

Let 1 spot suck and adjust.

I disagree. For Mahomes, I hope this game helps him remember the importance of ball security. It played a major role in the Chiefs beating loaded teams like the Ravens & Eagles in Playoff games the previous couple years. He has to stay focused on protecting the football. The Eagles are way too good of a team to hand them a huge advantage on turnover stuff.

If you can't tell the difference between the Bills playoff game and most of the regular season/last night, there's really nothing else to talk about because you're either being purposefully trolling so you can spam your opinion or you're blind.

Pressure didn't matter in the Bills game because he was getting rid of the ball in a couple seconds, was decisive, knew exactly what he was doing pretty much all game. Last night was exactly the same as several games in Sept/Oct/Nov and the first half of December... indecisive, double clutching, taking hits while moving into the pressure.

The AFCCG is what a half-billion dollar franchise QB looks like. He may have never looked like that last night due to the pressure the Eagles were getting with just rushing 4, but he didn't help himself at all even a little bit when he did have time (much less the coaching malpractice of not adjusting to it in the first half).

It's impossible to separate the offensive line performance from Mahomes' performance and I'm not sure why anybody would attempt to do that. They go hand in hand.

Mahomes, OL, coaching and most of the WR's all sucked,

So it would have been nice for someone to help someone get out of their funk but everyone collectively collapsed.

I think that's overstating things in its own right.

Because you can absolutely live with a mistake here and there if you're also willing to attack. Mahomes in his first couple years was a lot like that.

He'd put the ball in harms way but in between he'd also put every defensive backfield in the NFL on alert that the ball could be whistled past their ear or over their head on any given play.

I don't want him afraid to pull the trigger any more than I want him making more plays like that one.

Which is why I say I don't think there are lessons to be taken from it. Because sure, you can argue that he needs to work on ball security but you can watch the same tape and say he needs to be MORE willing to rip the ball into tight spaces.

Just...don't be bad, m'kay, Patrick?

I'm also finding quite a few plays where the line held up reasonably well and NOBODY was open.

They have a lot of work to do.

They do go hand in hand. Honestly, they overachieved considering the crap show on the blind side of the offensive line. They had the worst LT/LG combination of any Playoff team. Probably should have been knocked out in the divisional round, never mind getting all the way to the Super Bowl.

Not sure why you're bringing the Bills game up at all? The Eagles generated a 52% pressure rate without even blitzing once in the first half. The Bills weren't even close to doing anything of the sort. Thuney was completely fine against Buffalo and he looked like a fish out of water last night.

Again, we have seen what happens when Mahomes doesn't trust his line (and in particular, the left side of his line) and it happened again on the biggest stage. Fix the LT issue going forward and I expect it won't happen again.

Or, maybe the Chiefs can provide him with better players around him so it's not constantly David versus Goliath year after freaking year.

I'm sure he's tired as hell of it. Just sits back and watches Hurts stand in the pocket and make tea while he picks which All Pro he wants to throw it since there's just so many to choose from. It's not acceptable, and I hope his representatives make that very clear to Veach and Reid this offseason.

They should have had a TD before half but Hopkins did....something that was supposed to resemble catching a football

Not sure if it's already been mentioned or not, but IMO Pat looked dead-ass tired from the get-go last night. Not sure if true but didn't have the same look that I'm used to seeing before and during a game. Dark circles under his eyes were pretty obvious.

I don't really blame him for the 2nd one. He got hit right when he threw it which clearly effected the throw.

That's kind of the problem though. It HAS happened even with competent OL play. AFCCG Patriots first half in 2018 and Bengals second half in 2021. He just inexplicably gets the yips and plays fucking bad football.

When I look at that play I can see the zone match defender playing way too far off Hopkins and I can see Hopkins at the top of the route looking at the QB expecting the ball, and it would have been a first down. Play was schemed well but because the o line was shitting the bed the QB was rolling out and trying to look off the corner back vs hitting the receiver with the ball. Atrocious pick by Mahomes but that doesn't happen if the offensive line isn't giving up pressure at some absurd rate.
