OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

His biggest question mark is durability and this season did little to change that.

I’d bring him back.

You just can’t rely on him being there but it’s worth the risk.

Do we even want him back?

I mean seriously, I didn't see jack shit to make me think he's worth keeping. I suppose if we can hang on to him for ~$5 million or so, he can stick around. Otherwise, I'd just let every free agent WR walk and start fresh with Worthy, Rice and Remigio and build from there. These other scabs can pound sand.

Maybe keep JuJu. In fact, if we'd only keep one between him and Brown, I'd take JuJu all day. He at least made some plays this year when we needed him.

If he’s cheap, there’s a ton of upside. Getting hurt so early really made it hard to get him in synch. Not to mention the conditioning and all that.

If he’s expensive, no way.

I wasn't all the excited about Brown to begin with because he was always hurt. Then he got hurt. Again. I honestly don't care if they bring him back or not. You guys know how I feel about guys with injury histories.

He could just as easily get injured himself and you KNOW there are defensive players looking to destroy him on a block.
Yes, him attempting a tackle will always be stupid in a regular season game (but because of his own health and not particularly because of anybody else's). A pretty understandable reaction for that kind of competitor though.

Thuney just got absolutely killed this game. Eagles played it smart in eliminating Mahomes' ability to escape to the outside on the right repeatedly too, which is what he loves to do. They just bottled him up inside over and over again until Thuney/Caliendo's guys beat them.

I do wonder if Andy could have schemed up some plays to adjust at some point to this (perhaps getting Mahomes on the run/out of the pocket?), but he never really did.

Just watched about 5 minutes of a breakdown.

Mahomes should have chucked it deep to Worthy on the play he checked down to JuJu over the middle.

Then on third down he just failed to pull the trigger on a wide open Brown over the middle (bailed and threw that bad pass to Hollywood).

Mahomes had the yips early.

So Mahomes and Lebron aren’t similar, at all

Terrible, terrible throw that wasn't gonna get completed anyway. Ugh.

Cooper DeJean with some outstanding awareness to fall back into the throw and get the interception.

DeJean also hit a max speed of 21.31 MPH on this play. The fastest by a defensive player as a ball carrier this season (including playoffs), per @NextGenStats. pic.twitter.com/Huyntkjkyx

On a couple of those, like the tiny Kelce chip, he has zero time, but on a couple others he has 3-4 seconds.. and on those plays the all-22 would have been nice (on one of them you can see Kelce is triple covered).

I'd think they'd start moving the pocket or find ways to run through those huge lanes, try max protect a bit to delay long enough to dump of screens to Kelce.... literally anything else...

He missed some fairly easy throws early in the game as I recall too that had nothing to do with his line. It's not that unusual for him to be off at the start of SB games, though, if you look at the five of them. That start really wasn't all that concerning initially.

The play where he got all twisted around and then threw up a sort of a floaty ball to his right as he was getting tackled near his end zone is when I started to get concerned about him being rattled. He rarely makes that kind of decision and was lucky that ball wasn't picked. It was a sign of things to come as he threw the pick six the drive after that.

God fucking damn, man. Mahomes has to simmer the fuck down in these situations. The game was still very manageable with a throwaway and punt there instead of a pick 6.

They're incredibly similar (in that they are chasing down untouchable mythologized ghosts and are hated for it while getting off to the greatest statistical starts ever to careers) and they are looking more similar every day giving the media narratives.

Dude just swings from one extreme to the other. Refuses to rip the ball down field and give Worthy a chance to make a play then does whatever the fuck THAT was.

He's been great throwing while running to his right his entire career. There's nothing wrong with him trying to make a play there but he just made a horrible pass while doing so. It happens.
