Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy! [Reply]

How many seasons did we go before he got here without a playoff win? What was it 40-yrs?
Who cares? Quit settling for mediocrity and aim for the end goal. [Reply]

yeah, but an opening ST TD, 5 turnovers by the defense had a lot more to do with that win than Alex, IMO.
we were still like less than 50% on 3rd down in that game and we didn't exactlly light the world on fire with our passing game. [Reply]

I agree that Mahomes will have to be very impressive, and things will have to go south to probably force a change.
Let's look back to last season. The 1st four games, our offense was bad... minus late 3rd quarter to the end of game 1 against San Diego. Not good against Houston. Took 8 turnovers from the defense and 2 TD's by the defense to get by the Jets. No show against the Steelers.
And if Foles would have put up a great game against the Jags coming off of what he did against the Colts, we may... I repeat may... have had a QB controversy last season.
If history repeats it self, and we come out like we did last season... and Mahomes is looking great... who knows. [Reply]

I was coming from the standpoint of your comment that Alex should get more respect around here, as it was implied that he was key component to snapping our playoff drought.
I agree, Smith played smart, but I just disagree that he he much to do at all with the playoff win, aside from just not making mistakes. I would argue, in that particular game, the Texans and Chiefs could've swapped QBs and the outcome would've been the same. [Reply]

As long as they're winning, it won't matter what Smith is doing I don't think. [Reply]

JJ Wat also had his worst game I think in his career when Eric Fisher raped him. Eric Fisher played beast that up to that point we haven't seen and really haven't seen it again the next year, so I think he is still a question mark of reliability. He plays decent enough just not dominant enough for a 1/1 draft pick LT IMO. [Reply]

What about the Colts playoff gm? Or how he carried us in that playoff gm against NE? Or how he beat Drew Brees in a playoff gm that was a shootout? He had two clutch drives in that gm.
Dude can play man. Not saying he is great or elite but he is a good, solid, QB. Hopefully Holmes can become an elite QB but in the meantime I hope Alex can get us a SB and I believe he can if we don't get f***ed by injuries and Justin Houston returns to his old form. [Reply]

It would take a plane crash for this season to "go to crap".

I agree but I also don't think Andy Reid likes to be embarrassed having a bottom 20 offense in the league if his quarterback isn't pulling the trigger on open receivers or missing out on big plays and thinks Mahomes II can do better job. Andy likes to feast. I don't think he has been happy with his offense and having a guru classification behind his name.
This is also a bran new season and we can't go by last years merits to determine success or failure the ball can bounce in many different ways. We play the likes of the Cowboys Eagles Giants Redskins Patriots and have 6 prime time games. Staying healthy is going be an issue of itself and Alex Smith is concussion prone.
No win is guaranteed so in hopes we have a great winning season it has to happen first.
Chargers are a team we like to forget about but they are playing in nomads land and have everything to gain by being a dark horse in the race. If they are healthy compared to last year they will have something to prove. It also maybe Philip Rivers last season with them he is a wild card.
So anything is possible at this point. Alex can play better, he sure needs too if he wants keep his job but he has a guy working hard to take over the starting job just in case he falters. [Reply]

Just as we thought. This is a make or break year for Alex and Andy wasn't happy with Alex's play last year.
Either Alex plays well or he gets benched for Mahomes later in the season. [Reply]
