Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Brady had Manning and some Roethlisberger, who never won MVP, but it wasn’t the overall QB gauntlet we see now in the AFC.
I think you’re right about the first part but Brady, Manning, Roethlisberger and Rivers for 20 years was pretty stacked.

Then the odd years with Carson Palmer, Joe Flacco, etc. going nuclear.

Mahomes' numbers are similar to Josh Allen's...

Mahomes: 26 TDs, 11 INTs, 4000 yards

Allen: 28 TDs, 6 INTs, 3700 yards

But somehow Allen is an MVP candidate and Mahomes has "sucked" this year...

The reality is Lamar should get the MVP. He has beaten Allen in nearly every statistical category.

Maybe someone like Herbert if he gets frustrated with not winning shit.
The irony there is that in my opinion, Harbaugh will have the Chargers as top AFC competition very soon IMO while I could see one of the others taking a backslide for a little while.

Probably Cincinnati because their books are only getting heavier after they pay Chase. Hendrickson is on the way out along with Higgins. I’m not sold that they’re bouncing back anytime soon to SB levels and I could see Joe being the type to follow in Carson’s footsteps.

Well you have to factor in attempts as well. Mahomes has nearly 100 more attempts than Allen.

Allen also added 500+ rushing yards and 12 TDs. He’s at 41 TDs with that weird lateral TD from Cooper.

Narrative is also on Allen’s side. They just traded their best WR and we’re supposed to be in a mini rebuild. This is akin to Pat’s 2022 after we traded Tyreek.

The narrative also just ignores that we spent 2/3 of the season with the top two WR's on the IR and Justin Watson as the functioning #1 as well as dogshit at LT.

Everyone else gets all of the excuses, but Mahomes is just expected to put up astronomical numbers no matter what.

Burrow to the Vikings to team up with Justin Jefferson would be intriguing

Yeah. That was my argument against the anti-Mahomes crowd this year.

Just gotta charge that to the game. Perks of being the top dawg.

Saw this on Reddit. Thought it belonged here.

Top AFC QBs when throwing 30 or more times in a game

We all know that Quarterback efficiency tends to go down the more they throw in a game. I wanted to look at top AFC QBs and see how their winrate fluctuates based on an (admittedly arbitrary) threshold of 30 pass attempts in one game.

Lamar Jackson has an overall record of 71-28 (71.7%) including the playoffs. He is 20-18 (52.6%) when throwing 30+ times in a game, and 51-10 (83.6%) otherwise. He wins 19.1% less often when throwing 30+ times and 11.9% more often when throwing <30 times.

Josh Allen has an overall record of 81-38 (68%) including the playoffs. He is 50-30 (62.5%) when throwing 30+ times in a game, and 31-8 (79.5%) otherwise. He wins 5.5% less often when throwing 30+ times and 11.5% more often when throwing <30 times.

Joe Burrow has an overall record of 42-32-1 (57%) including the playoffs. He is 33-30-1 (52.8%) when throwing 30+ times in a game, and 9-2 (81.8%) otherwise. He wins 4.2% less often when throwing 30+ times and 24.8% more often when throwing <30 times.

Patrick Mahomes has an overall record of 104-26 (80%) including playoffs. He is 83-25 (76.9%) when throwing 30+ times in a game, and 21-1 (95.4%) otherwise. He wins 3.1% less often when throwing 30+ times and 15.4% more often when throwing <30 times.

Justin Herbert has an overall record of 40-39 (50.6%) including playoffs. He is 33-35 (48.5%) when throwing 30+ times in a game, and 7-4 (63.6%) otherwise. He wins 2.1% less often when throwing 30+ times and 13% more often when throwing <30 times.

Some notes to take away from these numbers: Jackson is hurt more than anyone by throwing 30+ times in a game, his dropoff being nearly 4 times that of Allen’s. Burrow benefits the most from not having to throw as much, albeit in a small sample size. Mahomes having only one loss when throwing <30 times in a game (In 2022 to the Bengals) seems kind of ludicrous.

They won't put up with that pole smoker up there. Then again, Minneapolis will embrace him

Hendrickson is under contract next year.

He will make a stink if they don’t extend him beforehand.

Allen's case is reliant on a bunch of 1 yard TD runs that are extremely high success rate plays for anyone (ie Allen doesn't make them much better). Allen and Hurts both vulture a ton of these TDs, Barkley should probably have 20 Tds this season.

A STAR WAS BORN: 7 YEARS AGO YESTERDAY, #CHIEFS QB PATRICK MAHOMES MADE HIS #NFL DEBUT.

Mahomes has become a 3x Super Bowl Champion and 2x #NFL MVP.

Pat has already become one of the greatest quarterbacks in #NFL history.
