The mighty Bills from Buffalo will take the AFC this year.
For two decades I watched people say the Patriots window was closed, that their time was dwindling, that it was all over… seemingly every time those predictions happened, the Patriots went and won another Super Bowl.
A lot of doom talk simply because we lost to the Bengals in the playoffs. Let us not forget that the Bills watched their brother DIE on the field just a few weeks prior. Their heart was simply not in it. If it had been, the Bills would have captured the AFC last year.
The Bills have won 2 of their last 3 in Arrowhead and they’re ready to make it 3 of the last 4.

Think about the 'bad' contracts we've had.
Clark, Hitchens, Watkins are the three big ones. Mathieu played to his deal, I won't include him.
But those three? Those were guys he signed to take pressure off Mahomes and try to put the hammer down a bit when we had a cheap QB.
And they were all mistakes.
When he's not had to be desperate because he's had a God playing QB, he's been smart about how he's parsed out spending and cap space. And to be fair, it's a LOT easier to build a winning team when you have that guy playign QB for you.
The teams that have made the biggest mistakes did so by taking homerun swings trying to close the gap between themselves and the Chiefs.
To use a different analogy - the Chiefs are running in clean air. We don't have anyone in front of us buffeting the air and messing things up for us. We're in the lead and command of the race and our pace. Makes it a hell of alot easier to do the smart thing.
Credit is still due for not making unforced errors, but make no mistake, Mahomes makes Brett's job a fair bit easier for him.
The monster contracts to free agents generally just a bad idea. If they were that great of a player with no concerns they never would have hit the open market. You are all but guaranteed to greatly overpay as well. That is why it is critically important to draft well. Continue down the path of handing out the monster contracts to the players you have drafted and developed and have had in the building for several years and understand their character. [Reply]

He was so clutch against a decrepit Chiefs D. It only took 13 seconds to dismantle his claim to fame. But sports media must talk him up to keep busy [Reply]
Bills are really starting Hamlin and Rapp at safety? And Mack Hollins is their starting x receiver? Allen is going to have to carry some real marginal players this year. [Reply]

One of my favorite things about Bills fans is how quickly and easily they memory hole things they believe. Every season the majority of their board will argue that the Bills roster is equal or better than the Chiefs. At the end of the season after we beat them on the way to Super Bowls they will say Allen had worst weapons than Mahomes and has to do it all by himself. This cycle has of course begun again as you can find countless posters who believe their WR are equal to or better than ours after getting rid of Diggs and Davis who they blame for any offensive struggle that occurs. Dalton Kincaid and James Cook 80+ catches a piece. [Reply]

He's not really a coverage + player is the issue. [Reply]

They have less speed than the Chiefs last year, can Allen really commit to the short passing game without making a bunch of mistakes in frustration?

And McDermott loves to run cover 3 and disguise it moving his safeties around, these aren't the players you want for that. It's like giving Spags corners that can't tackle. [Reply]
I’m interested to see how the Bills deploy their top 4 receiving weapons, since all of them are best out of the slot and only two of them can play out of a slot-like alignment.

Though they won't admit it, bills fan knows the team has zero chance of winning the superbowl with the gauntlet of good/great teams in the afc they have to go through. [Reply]
