Drafting Bradley Chubb was one of the worst picks in the last ten years when you factor in the whole picture. For that pick to be considered good, he would have needed to be on a hall of fame pace by now, and he clearly isn’t even close.
When you jettison Derek Wolfe and Shaq Barrett to draft an edge player top 5, he needs to be remarkable.
Chubb was viewed as a Khalil Mack type of prospect. Joe Banner said when Denver drafted him that Denver just got the best player in the draft. If the QB Elway wanted was there at 5, they would've kept Shaq Barrett. Unfortunately, Elway didn't like Allen, and loved the idea of pairing Von Miller with a power rusher who would compliment him perfectly. With Shaq expected to be a high-priced FA, it made sense to draft a better, cheaper player at that position. [Reply]

From a Packers blog estimating compensation if a trade does happen.
Denver Broncos
2022 picks: 9, 40
Future picks: 2023 1st
Players: Jerry Jeudy, Albert Okwuegbunam
That’s 3 first rd picks, an early 2nd and a decent backup TE prospect. All with a QB that wants a new contract to be the highest paid player which will strangle money efforts.
If Rodgers is stupid enough to leave a great situation giving him everything he wants to Denver with a rookie coach and team with no players who have played in a playoff game before then go ahead.
He’s 38 and at this point he’s got 2 years left before he could be done at any moment. Packers defense is better, their coach is better, their offense is better.
But go ahead and come to the AFC and finish as a Wild Card every year behind Mahomes [Reply]
The Packers just pretty much ran through the NFC last season. Yeah they didn't win but that's on Rodgers and the offense.
Come to the AFC....where you have the battle it out with the Chiefs, Bills and Bengals for the end of your career? Makes no fucking sense.
The Packers have the ability to clear up their cap situation and keep a team around Rodgers. This is just Rodgers trying to get as much power as he can to handle moves and signings behind the scenes. [Reply]

Chubb in no way has lived up to his draft hype and draft selection. Factor in what was lost by drafting him (Barrett, Wolfe, and NOT DRAFTING JOSH ALLEN) and one could easily argue it was one of the worst decisions by an NFL franchise in the past decade. But keep telling yourself it was good. :-) [Reply]

It's not a great situation in Green Bay. They have 11 starters set to be free agents, including WR's Davante Adams, Allen Lazard, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and TE Robert Tunyan.
On defense, they have De'Vondre Campbell and Rasul Douglas as FA's and they're going to have to cut one of the Smith bros.
Paying Rodgers and Adams will cripple the rest of the team

Doesn't matter. Matt Stafford had never won a playoff game before this year. The Bengals had the #1 pick in the draft two years ago and they went on the road to knock off the #1 and #2 seeds in the AFC on their way to the Super Bowl.

The Packers' offensive weapons cannot compete with what Denver has, and Green Bay's offense and defense will take a major hit if they pay both Adams and Rodgers. [Reply]

If they draft a QB as well that could give the fanbase some optimism for the season.
No way are they gonna give up on horse mouse cock Lock already, right? Blowmo was telling us all years ago how he was gonna be the best quarterback in the division. He just needs a few more years as starter. He’s sooooooooo close. [Reply]
I think most marriage vows include a longer term commitment (until death) whereas contractual situations accept up front a much more temporary pairing. It seems anyone with a phone or a keyboard today calls themselves a journalist. [Reply]
