IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

I wasn't soberly studying the replay. I was reacting emotionally to the prospect of the season being over. Sorry. :-)

Non-contact and unable to put weight on that leg immediately makes me think knee.

He literally stepped on the side of his foot and his ankle tweaked. Everybody has done that at least once in their life. It just happened to be the ankle he already hurt.

The old basketball ankle sprain is what it looked like.

I didn’t see that in the broadcast.

They’ve got a couple good slow-mos from great angles and if anything it looks like his left ankle flexes inward a bit at one point. I don’t see him stepping on the side of his foot. Where do you see that?

I just about fainted when he got dinged on his ankle. I went from thinking oh shit it’s his Achilles then I saw another angle and I thought he might have fucked up his hip.

Don't know what to say man. I watched it all those ways just like you did. It appeared to me he stepped on the side of his foot.

Not sure if it was posted but I like Cowherd’s analogy to Mahomes/Chiefs being like Jason Bourne. No matter the situation or how unlikely it may look he finds a way. You think you’ve got him and he finds a rolled up newspaper and beats you with it to get away.

From what i hear r/nfl was absolutely giddy thinking he popped an Achilles. This is even with the policy of supposedly "not celebrating injuries ". The Chiefs have absolutely broken opposing fans bases.

Now their top thread is discussing the Chiefs being a fraud 8-0. The Chiefs are in their head.

On a similar note, I remember a Mahomes interview from a while back where he was asked about his completion percentage and he said “I’m not a big completion percentage guy”. I can’t remember his reasoning but, IMO, as long as it isn’t oddly low, I don’t really find myself caring too much about it either. As long as you’re above, like, 62ish% you should be fine.

Makes me wonder what core philosophies some other great QBs live by.

I feel the same way about QBR. I don’t put any stock in and I never have because it’s too subjective to carry any real weight.

They don’t even publish the methodology.

I actually like QBR because it typically aligns with what I watched in the games, but they can never truly be taken seriously until they show their work.
