Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy! [Reply]

Read the post right above this :-). Pointing out his surprising struggles means nothing. He's off. That can't be argued. [Reply]

I think it's a bit overblown. He's wasn't off in the playoffs/SB. He wasn't off week 1. It's really just 2 games, one of which was against a DC he tends to struggle against.
But yes, he's played like shit the last 2 weeks, like I said. [Reply]

Non sense. I never shit on the Chiefs. Compared to his standards he isn't close...what is wrong with pointing out how surprisingly bad over half a season worth of games? [Reply]

Imagine you finishing early or having a hard time getting it up a couple times your wife saying "pathetic", then she tries to gaslight you and tell you she was just pointing out your struggles.
Just use kinder words when talking about our golden boy man! [Reply]

He's not playing great ball right now, I mean he said it, we all see it, the team is still playing great defense and special teams.
I do think that going for the 3 peat and all that stuff means this year is gonna be more pressure packed so yeah, it's ok to say that Pat needs to clean some things up.
His footwork IS BAD right now, I actually know enough about the position to know his lead foot needs to be facing the trajectory of the pass and he's been WAY OFF with that for quite some time.
I think the difference now and in a few years ago is that I used to think Pat would just pull it out, now I just think our defense will. There's def been a shift [Reply]

Great point. Is a decline in talent or ability even worth considering? I mean we talk about running backs hitting the wall around 29 yrs. Different position, obviously. I realize its far too early and too small a sample size to say, but hoping his abilities didn't peak too early, and that its just a slump. [Reply]

That's what hit me in the Atlanta game. When it was third down and he just needs to complete a pass to basically end it, he throws a brick. And I'm not even surprised.
Then I had total faith in the defense they would handle business and they did.
Again, in the playoffs he was really good. Not GREAT, but REALLY GOOD. He was nails when it mattered but let's not act like he lit the Ravens up either.
And the offense got off to a REALLY slow start against the 9ers and were getting man handled pretty early then settled down.
Again, it's early but there is starting to become a pattern where we just rely on the defense to keep us in it and Pat doesn't put teams away. [Reply]
Again, I just have to go back to the Rodgers stretch that was so similar to this.
Rodgers never had 'pristine' footwork. But for about a year, year and a half, his lower half went from 'effectively wild' to just an erratic catastrophe.
Remember - just because his mechanics aren't traditionally textbook doesn't mean that he's not in control of his instrument. Some of that crazy shit he does has been by design and with purpose.
This isn't. At all.
And really it happens to everyone in every sport. They just get out of sorts and they take a little time to figure it out. And I'm guessing someone as unconventional as Mahomes will take more time than most because there's no blueprint for him to follow.
His body just has to get back in sync. No reason to believe it won't.
But he's undeniably a bit of a cluster right now. [Reply]

Consider it 'accurate' vs 'precise'
Mahomes mechanics aren't ordinary. So they're not 'accurate'. But they are repeatable for him. So they're extremely precise.
Give someone precision and they'll use shit like Kentucky Windage to put the round on paper. It may not go where the sights say it's supposed to, but they KNOW where it's going so they'll just adjust the sights accordingly.
That's the problem with Mahomes right now. The precision is gone so he can't adjust the sights to put the round on target.

Feel the same on all points above. The faith has shifted over the last regular season and a quarter (this year) on our defense to pull it out. Offense simply hadn't given us enough reason to believe. Too many failed drives and turnovers, end of game.
He was very good, not great. Offense was really challenged for over 3 quarters against 9ers. Those were all coin flip games (sans Miami) and we ended up on the right side. Last year's team maximized their attributes and ran through an absolute gauntlet to defy the odds and pull out an incredible, improbable and most satisfying Super Bowl ever. [Reply]
