Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy! [Reply]

Brady fans can point out, correctly, the wins in the AFCCG and then the SB. And yeah, we know that Dee Ford and a charmin OL are primarily responsible but man, the scoreboard is hard to beat.
Patrick Mahomes is 0-2 vs. Brady in the post-season. And there it shall remain. Sucks, but it is what it is. There's no real "Yeah, and Curry couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat in the 4th quarter of Game 7" kind of dagger (because yeah, he absolutely choked that game away) but it's still 0-2.
except Brady and Mahomes weren't on the field at the same time like Curry and Lebron were...
and there's that whole spygate thing which helped Brady read defenses early in his career. [Reply]

Larry Bird.
Michael Jordan.
Not even the dumbest baaaawston chowdah head would take Bird over Jordan. And by the time Mahomes is done, it will be just as obvious to them that they shouldn't take Brady over Mahomes. [Reply]

Jordan ended up with 6 rings compared to Larry’s 3 rings. Mahomes is not gonna be able to dwarf Brady’s ring count. It’s just too bad Dee Ford went offsides. The Playoff record would be 1-1 and Brady would have 6 rings instead of 7 rings. [Reply]

Let’s just see how it plays out, ok? I would give Mahomes the GOAT crown if he ends up 6-1 in SBs vs Brady’s 7-3. [Reply]

And 11 rings dwarfs 6 rings. So Bill Russell now? Another Celtic?
It's not cut-and-dried, no, but if fans are going to bring up head to head matchups as proof of something, then you gotta do it across the board.
Also, basketball is way more dependent on individual leaders and performers. It's 5 guys versus 22. [Reply]

Eli Manning, Nick Foles,Jake Plummer,Mark Sanchez, Joe Flacco, and Ryan Tannehill have taken Brady out in the Playoffs are they better than Tom? [Reply]

My annoyance with that is it was rookie Mahomes vs 5-time SB winning Brady and only a slightly older Mahomes vs 6-time SB winning Brady.... and I guess the argument could be "well, if Mahomes is so great, he wouldn't need experience to beat Brady, he'd just do so" (besides the fact that he does need the ball to do so, which didn't happen in OT the first time)
I mean.... I don't care much because the GOAT stuff is so overplayed and overly debated. Brady will always be their GOAT, Mahomes will always be ours. No amount of rings or stats will sway most fans.
But, we all saw the gameplan in the SB loss and we all know Mahomes has made huge strides in his game since then, so he can win when hero ball isn't working.
We were just a few years off seeing peak Mahomes vs Brady. :-) [Reply]

I think the obvious response is that Mahomes still won 2 Super Bowls WITH Brady in the League.
When Mahomes was at his most vulnerable (2018 defense and 2020 OL injuries), he was still good enough to get to Brady.
When Brady was at his most vulnerable (2019 Patriots and 2021 Buccaneers), he lost BEFORE he could make it to Mahomes.
Is it better to lose early in the playoffs to far interior teams? [Reply]

Brady won that AFCCG because they won the OT coin flip. The Patriots weren't going to stop the Chiefs and everyone knew it. The Chiefs had just scored 24 points in the 4th quarter alone, and that almost certainly would have been 28 points if they hadn't been forced to kick a field goal with time running out.
I don't have to detail the state of the Chiefs OL in Super Bowl 55.
So, yes, Brady is 2-0 against Mahomes in the postseason, but both wins need huge asterisks. [Reply]

EDIT: Yeah, blocked. Figured. It's essentially 10 minutes of the more bonkers shit Mahomes has done.
Shit never gets old. Dudes just a fucking gamer with incredible talent.
The throws especially across his body are incomprehensible. But what stands out to me are the runs. The Titans run and the Eagles Super Bowl runs are in there and add in the Bengals run on his ankle he shouldn't have been playing on stand out to me because 1. Obviously incredible plays, especially given the context. 2. Are what he's not good at. It really shows the level to which he's a gamer. [Reply]
