IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

That comparison has frankly been an insult to Mahomes for years now.
Nah, it's apt.

Steph revolutionized basketball. Sure Lebron blah blah, but when they're really going....Steph and Pat have something that makes you feel like you're just watching something you've never seen before.

Steph is criminally underrated IMO.

If you want to strain the shit out of the analogy, Brady is James.

A guy who's done something we've seen before (Magic) but simply did it better and longer than anyone else to compile arguably the best top to bottom resume without ever being revolutionary or touching the peak of guys who didn't have the career he had.

And Mahomes is Curry unless/until he gets that resume filled out. Then he's Jordan. Give him 2 more rings. Shit, maybe if he gets one this year (4 rings plus a 3-peat) and he graduates to Jordan status. But I think it's fair to say he's Curry....for now.

Yeah in terms of that....he'll probably end up being Jordan.

I don't know how to really lay it out. Just the joy both bring in watching them play, I get it.

The difficulty in that analogy is that, at present, the NFL doesn't HAVE a Michael Jordan.

Rodgers had a lane but duffed it.

And you could also argue that Jordan isn't much different than James in that Jordan was a better version of Julius Erving, James Worthy or maybe Oscar Robertson. If you're going to say James is an evolutionary Magic, then you could argue that Jordan was an evolutionary Erving.

In which case, maybe Brady becomes Jordan and the closest LeBron analogue is Manning?

Brady is James, meaning that without extraordinary longevity he wouldn't even be in the GOAT discussion.

Mahomes will be Jordan...the best to ever do it despite not playing for 70 fucking years.

Mahomes is Jordan.

Allen and Lamar can also make claim to revolutionizing the game like Curry. Some kids growing up might even idolize Lamar more than Mahomes because of his play style. But Mahomes is a significant cut above all that.

Mahomes has that "something" that translates into playoff wins. Comparing abilities is fine, but wins and losses in the playoffs are huge factors.

Looks like Josh Allen is gonna be Charles Barkley :-)

Pretty sure this won't embed because of all the NFL clips, but stuff like this is just too damn much fun....

EDIT: Yeah, blocked. Figured. It's essentially 10 minutes of the more bonkers shit Mahomes has done.

Which is bizarre because he was the centerpiece of a team that won a bunch of titles, he's a lock HOF player and he is probably the greatest pure shooter in the history of the game.

You can't be in the running for GOAT if you are only great at one thing, even if you do that one thing better than anyone in history.

He was a contemporary of LeBron and was very clearly not a consistently better player than him. Perhaps if the 2016 finals had gone the other way his narrative would be different.

Which will be, annoyingly, the biggest arrow in Brady's quiver come GOAT discussion time.

Brady fans can point out, correctly, the wins in the AFCCG and then the SB. And yeah, we know that Dee Ford and a charmin OL are primarily responsible but man, the scoreboard is hard to beat.

Patrick Mahomes is 0-2 vs. Brady in the post-season. And there it shall remain. Sucks, but it is what it is. There's no real "Yeah, and Curry couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat in the 4th quarter of Game 7" kind of dagger (because yeah, he absolutely choked that game away) but it's still 0-2.
