For the record, this year, Mitchell still sucks like he did in preseason....
# 2 What could be so wrong letting another guy have a chance at MLB , we all know Mitchell sucks, right ?
#1 Preseason is a very limited number of practices. It does not always provide an accurate indication of a player's ability. Over their college careers, and at the combine Mitchell was better than Scanlon. That is why Mitchell was drafted and that is why Mitchell will get more chances to prove himself as a pro. Because Mitchell earned that right during his years-long college career and a few preseason games do not erase that fact.
#2 Mitchell is good in run support. I am not ready to concede that Mitchell sucks. Generally, I have no problem with replacing under-performing vets and giving rookies a chance but that is not the case here. I would not call Mitchell a vet. Mitchell is still learning. [Reply]

Nope, you're just like all the LJ detractors in reverse. You're all about making judgements when you haven't even seen the guy play. And no, watching him against future used car salesmen in preseason doesn't count. Sorry, that's the way I see it. [Reply]

The idea that we can't do worse is a complete myth. We can do worse than what Mitchell is doing out there.
So tell me. If Scanlon has not gotten a chance then what is Jared Allen doing? It seems to me its amazing that Allen is out there even though he has not gotten a chance.
You see Jared Allen showed the coaching staff that he is good enough to be out there and play in our defense. He showed them in training camp and he showed them in practice.
I hate to break it to you...there is more out there than pre season games. It seems as though you think pre season games are the only time evaluation takes place. For as much time as you have spent in past threads holding your age and football knowlege over my young head you are far from knowlegable in terms of football programs and how they are run and how personel decisions are made.
They are evaluated on the limited play. DV has said so, limited reps in practice included, even running on the scout teams.
DV even said he was impressed with his ST's play, another strenght that he showed in college.
IMHO, DV is missing the ability as a tackler and playmaked on D, but that's my opinion. DV has a love affair for Mitchell, that shows.
As for Gun, I dunno, I really don't. You guys could be correct, I'm not going to admit it until I see it with my eyes. I recall to clear how he shead blockers and not onlymade tackles, but had great ball vision, it appeared he was always around the ball.
I can't help it, I want this team to do well, I believe that we are playing a guy that wil not make it. I want to see not only Rich play, but all the others. How else are we going to find if they can play ? [Reply]

Do you feel we should try anybody else out at that position now since Mitchell sucks so bad ? Or stick with a sick Mitchell.
Truthfully, I say this season is lost and we invested a first day pick in Mitchell so lets find out whether he is a complete disaster in a season when in it makes no difference. Maybe he will grow into the position. I sort of doubt it, but 4 more games will give him most of a season and Gunther should be able to decide. [Reply]

Ok, an honest, fair take. I will say we still disagree, but value your opinion. ( much better than the gay swimming spin ) :-)
BTW, see I can take honest open opinions and live with them, but nobody until tonight really gave any, it was always, he sucks, blah blah blah. [Reply]

More than you will ever know.
BTW, Dennis Green gave a 3rd stringer the chance the other day because the 1st 2 didn't get the job done. It happens all the time in the NFL, why not here ?
In KC, it seems like they would rather go down kicking and screaming instead of try'n to find the solution. [Reply]

Actully its what I call the USA Today National Top 25 football program I played in. The same one that let me play a football game in an NFL stadium. [Reply]

Yeah, as opposed to your vast experience as a practice dummy on a high school team. Tell us all about how football programs work. This ought to be entertaining. [Reply]
