The KC Chiefs just blocked me on Twitter. LOL Last night, I tweeted that for the 4th year in a row, the Chiefs are at the bottom of salary cap spending and that the owner, Clark Hunt, is hoarding cap dollars. I responded that it is good to know that the KC Chiefs have an immature teenager running their social media.
I, as a fan for my whole life of nearly 40 years, who have never seen the Chiefs in a Superbowl, nor have I seen a playoff win in nearly 20 years, nor have I seen a QB drafted in the last 27 years... I have a right to be pissed. The Kansas City Chiefs have no right to be pissy toward the fans. We are the ones paying your salaries. Shame on you, Chiefs. Yeah... but, it is slowly changing now that it's been two decades since they won a playoff game. And even if it's not a substitute for football, Sporting KC is showing people how an organization should be run. That kind of arrogance usually catches up to a company, except in this case they're the only game in town and they could eventually move if things got really bad.... so yeah, they know they have the fans by the balls.
But, like I said, I do think it's slowly changing... Arrowhead is rarely at the same level as it was 10-15 years ago, more long-term season ticket holders have finally given up their tickets... I've been going to games for free or at least 50% off for the past several years, and it's almost always in the lower level. But, that doesn't mean they won't continue to make a shitload of money for years to come and fans won't flock back the moment they show signs of improving... hell, I would have been tempted to buy season tickets had Peyton Manning or a franchise QB come to town. It's pretty damn sad that when you go to Arrowhead, all the pictures, videos, trophies, image stuff is from teams that played 40 years ago. 40...years...ago.
The only teams that even compare on the long term failure scale are the Jets, Browns and Lions. Everyone else, including expansion teams, have gone farther than KC.
