Eh, you're talking to a guy that had his last puppy bred from semen shipped in from Oregon.
I'm stupid about animals, but I figure I'm going to have the things for 10-15 years so I'll pay what it takes to get what I want. A $1,500 cat is only $100/yr; $8/mo. Well hell, that's coffee money.
my next dog I'm 90% certain it'll be a Doberman. but I would want a pure bred one. $$$. though, all of my other dogs are adopted, and I swear they're more grateful because of it. I've looked at Doberman Rescues too.

LOVE Dobermans. I, too, want a Doberman or maybe a Belgian Malinois.
my last dog
an 80 lb german-australian shepard mix
she didn't know big dogs don't catch freebees and do ( vertical) 360's in the air
she also used to do her own tip drill

I had a Doberman I loved for about a year back in my early teens, way too high energy for the suburbs, though. Loved nothing more than winding up the neighbor's pugs by running them up and down the fence-line.
Ended up ACTUALLY moving to a farm upstate. Nothing grim, a farmer at our church turned him into quite the herding dog, visited him a few times in the ensuing years.
Loved that dog, Tramp was his name.
Picture Snoop Dog, reincarnated with the body of a purebred doberman and the personality of some big dumb boxer, endless enthusiasm.
