It's similar to Larry Bird vs. Jordan in MJ's early career (Bird was 6-0 vs. MJ in the playoffs).

The thing is, Jordan got so, so good in a later era that no one really remembers Bird vs. Jordan as rivals anymore (they exist in separate eras in the minds of fans). I suspect the same thing will happen with Patrick if he continues having elite success throughout his career (he also bagged a critical win against Tom in New England to pave the way for HFA for his first Super Bowl run).
Bird only has 3 rings, which is why people have sort of forgotten that he owned Jordan in the Playoffs. If Bird had 6 rings like Michael, a lot of people would give Bird the edge. Larry had too many injuries that derailed his career. But he was an unbelievable player and leader in his prime years. If not for the injuries, he is a GOAT level player in my view.

I think he had like 20 foot surgeries.

Back problems as well I think. He told a famous story about doing some construction work at his mom’s house and it pretty much ruined his career. Should have just paid other people to do the work.

Pretty sad waste of talent when you think about it. Brady & LeBron would spend millions of dollars every year to keep their bodies in great shape and have a very long career. Larry Legend was incredible before the injury stuff, much of it self-inflicted.

Mahomes now has 14 wins in the Playoffs, just 2 short of Joe Montana who was a GOAT level player. And the kid is just 28 years old. Absolutely insane stuff.

In the Playoffs you mean. 6 losses in regular season to those 3 teams.

As SUPER BOWL LVIII looms, Patrick Mahomes can break or tie several postseason marks.

He needs:

1 postseason win to pass Peyton Manning for 3rd all time (15).

2 TD passes to pass Peyton Manning for 5th all time (41).

163 yards to pass John Elway for 8th all time (4,965).

4 rushing yards to pass Elway for 6th all time (462).

Greatness awaits.

Most people consider the top 5 QB in the league as

1. Mahomes
2. Burrow
3. Allen
4. Jackson
5. Herbert

# 2-# 5 are interchangeable. Mahomes has beaten 3 of 4 of them in the AFCCG and the other (Herbert) he just beats twice a year. Not only is Mahomes doing unheard of things, he’s doing it in a harder conference against the best young QBs in the league.
