And I'm not necessarily excited about Teddy. I'm excited about the pieces we have around Teddy and how pairing those pieces with a QB who has a high comp% could work out well this year.
That’s the Alex Smith era in a nutshell. Been there, done that. You’re ceiling is limited.

We're entering into the golden era of QB's. Every year it seems like there are 3 to 5 of them to choose from, and often, the 2nd or even 5th QB picked wind up better than the ones picked ahead of them. No sense hitching your wagon to the first one that falls into your lap if you don't 100% believe in them.

Well...if you are in Denver..there is no sense in hitching your wagon to any of them...just sign backup QBs forever.

At least drafting Fields would have given your fans something to be excited about...Bridgewater is like getting socks for Christmas.

Are you going to do that every year? Take a CB when you need a QB and a pretty damn good one is there at your pick in the draft?

No, but they didn't think they were getting just any CB. Paton viewed him as a future All-Pro type corner.

I think Paton read it right. Chris Ballard - who like Paton is considered one of the top two talent evaluators in the league - has been searching every nook and cranny for a QB since Andrew Luck left him and he decided he'd rather trade for Wentz than make a move for Fields.

Have you considered that Chris Ballard is an even bigger pussy when it comes to the QB position than Carl Peterson?

Because he is.

Searching every nook and cranny my ass.

They picked up Wentz 6 weeks before the draft...and were picking 21st. They would have had to sell the farm...Ballard is one of the most conservative GMs...he's not going to do that.

Doinks had Fields fall in their lap for no additional cost...it was a dumb move. It was a gift-wrapped, no-brainer. Nobody takes a CB over a potential franchise QB...well almost nobody.

As you've seen with Rosen...it he tanks, you can flip him and move on It's not like it was 10 years ago...

:-) Why does Knowmo have this weird obsession with talking about Ballard? Does he think we'd be jealous that the Colts have him?
