Yes, the salary cap is going to go up two years from now, but when it does Mahomes won't be taking up 4% of it like he is now.
Teddy Bridgewater was due to make $20M this year and Paton managed to only be on the hook for $4M of it. The Panthers are paying Teddy significantly more this year than the Broncos are. Paton will be aggressive with Rodgers next offseason.
While it's true that the Chiefs probably can't keep everybody every year and may have to let somebody like Mathieu walk, reports of them needing to tear down the house and build up again like Seattle did after the Wilson contract are greatly exaggerated. Veach and Brandt Tillis are just flat out smarter than douchefucks like George Paton. They're going to find ways to keep guys. And meanwhile, Veach has been rolling out quite a few successful drafts since 2019. For example, I don't think you quite understand how fist-fuckingly deep our DL is, and this is something that's been quietly building up over a few years. All draft picks and players acquired by LETS REACH!
Your team will likely be more competitive this year than it's been in the past, I'll give you that much. But much like the Manning years when we had Smith, while you may get closer, nothing you do is going to get you over that hump.
Get prepared to be swept again, assdouche. [Reply]

Sad thing is, we're probably too good to sweep them again. We know that Andy will likely sit the starters if they have HFA wrapped up.
Then again, given how the Broncos looked against LA's backups, I wouldn't rule out a win. :-) [Reply]

The Chiefs won't. HFA is going to Buffalo. The AFC West is too tough to have the #1 seed in the AFC come out of it. [Reply]

Well, let’s see....
There’s one team in the division that is even close to the Chiefs’ level and it would be very optimistic to expect them to do more than split with KC.
