Nzoner's Game Room>*****Official 2024 Royals Season Repository Thread*****
ChiefsCountry 11:36 AM 01-01-2024

Year Two of the Matt Quatraro tenure. Time to take a step up this year. Active in free agency and trades this offseason. A new look pitching rotation and bullpen. Will the young players take the leap up offensively? Bobby Witt extension? New stadium? Will Vinny recover from injury? Salvy taking aim at the Royals record book? Will Cole Ragans turn into the best Royals starting pitcher since Greinke 1.0?

Free Agents/Trades Acquisitions

Michael Wacha, SP
Kyle Wright, SP
Hunter Renfroe, OF/DH
Will Smith, RP
Chris Stratton, RP
Nick Anderson, RP
Adam Frazier, 2B

With that logic, Mahomes was the 8th best QB in the league last year (QBR).

As you and others have put it, you were always witnessing something that other mortal players simply could not do.
Like I said before, Joey Gathright jumped over a fucking car, dude. I've never seen Bo do that.

So Bo was really just 30 years ahead of the trend?

Aren't most major league players at least a little famous in their home city?

Sounds like Bo was a real prototypical Dayton Moore guy. Low walk numbers and lots of strikeouts!

Bo's injury from football was a tragic one. Oh what could have been.

Do you really not know anything about Bo Jackson other than the back of his baseball card?

About fucking time for Tallis. He was the Brett Veach of the Royals in the early 70s.

Two more are headed to the Royals Hall of Fame!

John Schuerholz and the late Cedric Tallis were instrumental to the organization's success as General Managers throughout the 1970s and 1980s. pic.twitter.com/SAcHSSQIuB

I was 4 when he played his last MLB season. Ive seen the highlights and name another player that never had an elite season, but people are obsessed with them.

WilliamTheIrish has a really good post a few posts back that helped open my eyes.

About fucking time is absolutely right. Guy should have been inducted over 30 years ago.

Don’t remember what kind of car Joey G leaped over. Depending on the car, Bo could probably have done that. But instead, he’d just go to the drivers side of that car, reach down with hands under the frame and probably flip the damn thing over.

The other thing that I remember well about his defense was he often took incorrect routes to cover fly balls. He could make a mistake and still track it down. And he ran down balls in the gaps not so much by drifting into the gap but by speeding to the ball at a 90° angle to the ball, then diving. And he did that dozens of times. I’m probably not explaining it well.

Bo was more than a little famous. At one time he was one of the most famous people on earth. And he’s still a legend, almost mythical, like Paul Bunyan. He brought a lot of attention to KC when the Royals weren’t going to the postseason anymore.

He jumped over a Chevy Express Van going 10 miles an hour. He had to jump and jump high with lots of hang time.

Bad news for Jackson Kowar. Probably way too early to call it a success in trading him, but here's to hoping Kyle Wright can come back and positively contribute to next year's team.
