Nzoner's Game Room>Tamba Hali

Has anyone seen him? His friends and family are worried.

What happened to our impact LB? The sack machine? The difference maker?

I'm not saying it isn't true, but the only evidence I have seen makes it more questionable than not.
Andy Studebaker (who is the only person who's opinion really matters) raves about Vrabel.

That was in Studebaker's hometown paper before the regular season started. So that's just after training camp, and he's already calling Vrabel his mentor.

This is from the same paper near the end of the season, in a story about Studebaker starting in Vrabel's absense.

Then there's the obvious stuff from the local media.

I'm sure this was posted here at the time, but it's conveniently forgotten every time the exact same people pop up to tell us -- usually in reference to Vrabel -- how "leadership" means nothing, vets don't help young players who are going to take their jobs, and any of the other bullshit that's easily disprovable no matter which team in the league you follow.

NFL players are subject to testing year-round. Missing OTAs doesn't get them off the hook.

I remember an article a few years back with funny stories from guys like Deion Sanders about how they'd get a phone call out of the blue during the offseason, and then they'd have to go meet the tech at a place like McDonalds so they could pee in a cup.

Your story is changing.
Actually you stated that Hali was "just a guy". To me, that's not a solid player because as I noted, DeMorrio Williams is "just a guy". He doesn't do ANYTHING. He does his job but nothing above that. I think there is a clear difference between a guy like Hali and Williams.

Furthermore, Vrabel wastes a roster spot and likely will play before a younger player. Studebaker may never be a Pro Bowler either, but each and every time he's been the starter, he's been a playmaker.

Finally, re-signing Vrabel does nothing for the youth of this team, nor does it make it more talented.

I'm really beginning to question your views.
I'm saying Vrabel didn't get paid much, so it's not like based on salary he's locked in as a starter. Studebaker very well may beat him out.

As far as OTA's and that sort of thing, that was last year after he got traded. But the fact is, once he showed up he was in fact a great coach on the field. I also wonder if he'll show up for the OTA's and such this year since he said he wants to be a part of this turnaround. We'll see.

I think these are solid takes that are turning up roses. There is A LOT of fail in this thread

Give us upgrades to those guys and Hali is perceived as one of the leagues better pass rushers.

JMO, but I think its spot on.

Is Hali slow? YES

Are his combine times in the quickness/balance drills on par with about any good pass rusher in the NFL? YES, eerily similar to the elite ones to be more accurate.

Does Hali have short arms that cause missed opertunities? ABSOLUTELY

Do I think the defenses lacking talent is more to do with his just above average production than his physical limitations? ABSO****INGLUTELY

I dont know how many times Hali has missed a sack and flushed a qb out of the pocket only to see the qb throw for a big gainer because of lacking talent on this defense.

FACT he has been a top five at his position player at pressures on the quarterback about every year he has played in the NFL and IMHO if we get a solid push up the middle and a pass rush presence other than him on this team, qbs wont be able to escape as much and it will start to make passers throw rushed and a lot of those pressures will turn to sacks (for him or the other defenders)

I think Hali could consistently get 12+ sacks if the other factors are lined up.
