That play we schemed up for Skyy where he lined up in the backfield...wonder why we don't scheme things like that up for Rice, who seems to be light years ahead of Skyy in terms of explosive speed and YAC ability.
Rice was only targeted twice yesterday and had 2 receptions and a TD. We've got to get him more touches. [Reply]

Same for Toney. JFC dude is annoying. He’s either running jet sweeps for a loss. Dropping passes and when he does catch one is a full on production.

That corner route he ran on the first drive was decent (though I'm not sure where the safety went off to on that play; he made a juke in his cut against air, but whatev). Looked like he might be primed for a solid day.
Then he just air-mails a screen pass and that was all she wrote.
Seems like he's finally being held accountable now that Watson is back. The Chiefs have someone else they can put out there in his place so when he vapor-locks, he's done for the day.

I'm particularly cognizant of shit like that because I really do see it as the biggest symptom of his issues with route running. He simply doesn't seem to understand that those false steps do him more harm than good.
And then you see him throw them in there for NO reason and you realize it's just part of his mechanics. That's gonna have to get beaten out of him over the off-season. It's not something he's even doing as part of some concerted plan to get space - it's just what he does.

That dude will give the nastiest jab step and head fake against man that’ll leave even CBs in the dust. Then you’ll watch him round out a hitch to fall into the soft spot of a zone and realize this dude’s football IQ is just crazy. No wasted movements.

One of my favorite things about Rice as well.
Guy knows how physical he is. If you're a DB and you're where he wants to be, he's not gonna give you a head/shoulder fake to get you off your spot. He's going through you and he's going to use his body to shield you off.
He's just extremely efficient in his movements. It's why he's so good after the catch - he just immediately has that foot in the ground and looking to turn upfield. [Reply]
