IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

What do you all think about this? Is it a weakness in Mahomes' game? Obviously it's a good thing he doesn't force balls into tight windows, but when separation isn't happening, don't we want Pat to rip some throws into tight windows more often? And not sure how they measure throwing a receiver open in tight windows, but he's pretty much dead last in that too, which seems to be the more important metric here. Not sure how the 5 previous seasons look, but it seems to match the eye test for this season.

How often a QB throws into tight windows and their throw open % on those tight window throws.

X axis is reversed as tight window throws are generally a bad idea (though sometimes necessary)

Throw open = receiver is covered but the throw itself creates a window of separation

That's unusual for Mahomes and shows a complete lack of trust in his receivers.

These clowns can't handle a lay up over the middle with regularity and you want them to come down with Favre-ian fast balls? He's already essentially playing with extended handoffs and our WR's find a way to eff that up...

Smith was god-awful yesterday. Every time I looked up he was losing his rep in the first second or so. He got absolutely de-pantsed out there.

He's been pretty rough the last 3 weeks. And I can't figure out why because he'd seemed to have settled into a groove where he was just steady every week. Maybe he's just a guy who gets into funks because he had a stretch like this last season as well.

Or maybe he's just a pretty average player who we love because he was cheap. And average players have pretty lousy games sometimes.
I thought last year he had issues with ankle injury and then played better as it healed, so I'm wondering if he has another nagging injury like that.

Looks like Patrick Mahomes got the entire Chiefs OL golf carts for Christmas! Willie Gay is a little jealous. pic.twitter.com/u14dRl7aox

What is "throw open %"?

I don't mind if he doesn't throw into tight windows because he's the best quarterback at finding the guys who are getting open.

Is it pretty much based on some guys opinion or is there any tangible measurement?

No, because the receivers suck dick outside of Rice. Throwing in tight windows to scrubs leads to drops and/or turnovers.

he'll throw it to kelce tight. i assume that's because kelce can actually make a tough catch. asking our WRs to catch tight window passes is like a bad joke. avoiding them as much as possible is turnover mitigation.

No offense, but looking at where the good QBs sit on the graph, and the bad ones, it seems like it isn't explaining anything.

Yes, many of us have said this for a while, the good news he is starting to make those throws again. I hope the Toney drop doesn't set Pat back again. I understand his earlier hesitation, but he needs to continue to fire.

that's on them... I see why Pat lacks trust, but Pat can't continue to compound the problem by being hesitant and he has started flinging it more lately.
