Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy! [Reply]

No, these aren't equivalent statements.
Mahomes biggest problem is Mahomes. And I don't even fault him for it - EVERY QB has a 'down' season on their resume where things just never really lock all the way in for whatever reason. Then they start to play tight and this is the end result. Sometimes the entire year just becomes a struggle and an off-season re-set is needed. It happens to the greatest to have ever done it.
It seems to be happening to our boy this season. At this point the only thing that will meaningfully change things is him getting out of his own head and trusting in the offense. That's why he looked so good on the first drive - he wasn't tentative. They'd rehearsed the shit out of those plays so he was just smiling and dialing out there. He was confident and assertive.
And once we got into the rest of the game, it vanished. The WRs didn't stop playing at that level. The OL didn't get orders of magnitude better or worse. He just doesn't have the confidence in the offense he needs to have to be at his best. And we know this HAS to be the case because you can see it when he DOES have that confidence on plays he likes and when drives get rolling.
He's holding the bat too tight out there...
Yeah, that first drive drive was like night and day compared to the rest of the game. I mean it's not like that was a different group of offensive linemen and receivers out there, but they sure the **** looked open on that drive. [Reply]

No kidding. It’s not like JuJu is running wide open or running some great route on a lot of those plays. He’s just actually getting the ball thrown to him. [Reply]
The Mahomes gif thread is loaded with throws by Mahomes with ridiculous anticipation. That seems like something he’s really missing more than anything this year in his game. I guess you can attribute that to not trusting receivers but it’s not like the group is hugely different. Last season was the year with the huge turnover in WR and it didn’t matter.
Just seems like a Mahomes issue which is honestly better than it being a WR issue because we know what he can do. And if Veach and Reid feel like it’s Mahomes that can improve the most right away it makes sense why they wouldn’t go after a WR in a trade. [Reply]
The Chargers showed the league how NOT to play defense against us, and the Jets showed how defenses SHOULD play against us. Forget zone coverages and play press man all day while double/triple teaming Kelce. It's not complicated what's happening.
What's complicated is why Mahomes isn't firing on these guys that DO break open, because those looks have most definitely been there for the taking. He's got to get away from the Alex Smith plays and start challenging the third/fourth corners playing press on guys not named Kelce. [Reply]

Just one QB that is doing well this year?
This is an argument based on past production, or lack of a past in which to have stats to satisfy you. Rice, Toney, and Moore don't have enough NFL history to say that as a group, they are lesser talents.
In August, the only concern about Toney was injury. Well, that happened. But now what? He suddenly is terrible?
Rice is a rookie, and making plays. Is he terrible?
Moore is the only real disappointment.
MVS is a deep threat primarily, who should not be declining yet. and Watson is a 4th WR who can spell a 3rd for stretches.
Is it The Bengals WR room? Well no, of course not. They're not paying them yet. Dolphins? They're not paying their QB yet.
This 'worst WR room' talk is premature at best and likely to be proven horseshit by season's end. [Reply]

The real Patarick Mahominator will emerge soon. The bigger the game, the better Mahomes will be. Early morning game in fucking Europe. Then before that had the fuckin flu, was sick, and hung over from World Series. He is going to go ham on the league starting...now. [Reply]

Just hope he can raise his level of play to match OROY Rashee Rice. [Reply]
I think Juju was really good for the team, but I have faith Rice will grow into a great receiver as he gets more playing time. Kelce has made some great plays despite getting swarmed. We have Mahomes.
