Not entirely true. They are ridiculously good when they're fresh, but peas from the can are better than fresh peas that have been sitting for more than few hours.
The sugars start turning to starch within a very short amount of time, and once they've converted, they're bad.
If you're not growing your own, the best you can do is IQF. [Reply]

I never do canned anymore. It's what I grew up on, but I've learned that frozen taste better. Some veggies fresh from the grocery store's produce section can be great; peas are not one of them. Unless they're right off the plant, they almost assuredly not good.
FTR, I'm talking sweet peas, not snow or sugar snap, though I expect the same to be true of those, as well. But I don't know. But sweet peas convert sugar to starch super fast. [Reply]

What are you going to do when the zombie apocalypse hits? We could live several weeks off can veggies if something did happen and I don't mind them. Is fresh better, yes, but I don't stock a fridge full of fresh veggies I may not eat during the week. If I plan a meal then sure. [Reply]
Rosedale Barbecue at lunch Big Beef Deluxe Fries and large RC. I am still full but I wolfermans even tasty morsel down. No dinner for me tonight no room and I didn't stop at Dagwoods for a chocolate malt.
When it's 103 degrees, nothing beats an ice cold cream soda. I literally have only one a year. I use to be hooked on them years ago. Can't go back to my old ways. Rehab was a success. [Reply]
