Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy! [Reply]

Mitch Holthus was pissed we drafted him over a corner.

That might have been the game where he suffered a separated shoulder but came back into the game? I can’t remember for sure
Yeah I need a memory refresher. It’s been Mitch’s job to be supportive of (or at least dispassionate towards) just about every damn decision the team has made over the years.
I could see him reminding everybody that it was still Alex’s job throughout the 2017 season, but when he got traded? Time to support the new king [Reply]

Yeah, the separated shoulder sounds right. Game was in Lubbock as I recall. [Reply]

And I would be wrong, the game was in Manhattan, 2016. The recap on Tech’s site barely mentions an “ailing shoulder” and the recap on State’s site doesn’t mention it at all. I’m almost questioning wether or not I just dreamed it all.
Also, Mahomes got the win the year before, which makes the “lost to K-State” narrative that much more idiotic. [Reply]

Thanks. I just remember him being beaten up pretty good through a stretch of games. Separated shoulder, bum knee etc., but he kept trying to fight through it.
I was actually very surprised that the coaching and medical staffs let him keep playing. [Reply]
Holthus was a big Alex Smith homer. So departing from that and embracing the new unproven kid wasn't something he would do right on the spot. Holthus is as old school as they come. He goes about it the old traditional way where you respect and side with the proven veteran. [Reply]
I listened to it on 810 back when Kevin used to interview him. It's long gone but was for sure recorded because it was a podcast, not live. He asked Holthus about if he was happy about drafting Mahomes and he said no, they should have taken a corner and he feared they'd regret it. lmao
Those Kietzman / Holthus podcasts were terrible. Love Holthus as an announcer but his weird opinions and nutso devotion to central Kansas 3A sports are not something I need in my life. [Reply]
