Oh there are tons of possible explanations. He was trying to look smarter than everybody else... he didn't believe Mahomes would be this good in spite of first-hand evidence in front of him Week 17 of the 2017 season... he thought hard-nosed defense was the answer to taking back the division... he sincerely believed the team talent was only a veteran mistake-free game manager QB away from being competitive... he felt great about finding Trevor Semen in the 7th round and thought he could continue his bottomfeeder QB resurrection wizardry on Case Keenum in spite of paying him $18 million... he wanted to save face on the giant bust known as Paxton Lynch...
I mean, all of those explanations make him out to be a huge dumbass. But they ARE explanations... [Reply]

Allen was among the most polarizing, boom/bust QB prospects to enter the league in a loooooong time.
Whereas Chubb seemed like a gift from the gods where he went. Many believed he was the best football player in the draft and a potential Myles Garret sort of talent.
Really, the Bills deserve a shitload of credit for grabbing Allen where they did. That was seen as a major reach by many after he showed little development (and in many ways regressed) in his final year at Wyoming.
He's a funny pick and a great scouting grab. As a Soph there was a belief that he might leave early (I believe he was a redshirt soph so he could've declared) and if so would probably go in the back of the 1st, maybe even early 2nd.
Then he stayed and as a JR had a pretty rough year. With no major changes to the staff or notable defections he just didn't improve. Now WHY that would convince a team to take him 20+ spots sooner than he was projected the season prior is beyond me. But the Bills did and thus far appear to have been rewarded for their confidence in him.
But there's a really easy answer as to why Elway didn't take Allen - it just wasn't a no-brainer at the time. [Reply]

Mahomes was mid-round pick to many, given his "boom or bust" nature. [Reply]
Drew Lock coming back this week, just in time to win a few games over the course of the season and ruin the Broncos chances of getting Lawrence or Lance. [Reply]

He’s going to get hurt again. Their OT’s are horrific [Reply]
Man. Really bummed w/ how our conversation w/ Von Miller went. We asked so delicately the most obvious question to Von about his future with the team. He hung up on us. Then we reconnected & he gave us one word answers so I ended the conversation. I'm very disappointed.
Im reminded of Neil Smith's move from KC to Denver...If Von Miller wants another ring, it might mean coming to the Red and Gold. Sure could use someone opposite Frank Clark. [Reply]

Chris Jones, Frank Clark & Von Miller in the same defense? Yikes! [Reply]

JMO
Has there been “a good and consistent poster” that has not been welcomed “on the Mange?” [Reply]
