I dunno, gents.
This Broncos team (especially led by Driskel) is bad enough to get to Lawrence. Fields and/or Lance will certainly be available for them if they even manage to stay inside the top 10.
There's just a lot of teams that have cast their lot w/ a young QB over the last 2-3 years and most of them are still not at nut-cutting time with him. That's gonna leave some passers on the board in the 6-8 range even if it's not Lawrence. And both Fields and Lance have franchise talent.
We're about a week away from needing to root FOR Bronco victories. Otherwise there's gonna be another young QB in the division with some pretty significant upside. I'd just as soon not see that. [Reply]

As long as Lawrence doesn’t fall into their lap, I see Elway giving Lock more time. He’s scared to death to take a QB that high after Paxton Lynch. I can’t see him doing it unless it’s a prospect like Lawrence. [Reply]

You think Aleway is gonna be good at matching a coaching staff with a young prospect? He has t shown me that ability yet. Gonna be some other numbskull who can’t coach at that level. Fox, Pubes, VaJona, Fangs. [Reply]

Oh he'll absolutely take Fields, IMO. Lance might give him some Lynch PTSD, I'll grant you.
But if he has a shot at Fields, I absolutely think he'll take him. The possibility of getting his own Kyler Murray out there to be a dual threat guy would just be too much for him. And with Fields large-school history and 'winners' pedigree - Elway will absolutely snap him up, IMO. [Reply]

How badly do you think Elway wants to keep doing this if he can't finally start winning again?
I think Elway would rather tie his career to a guy that might make him a champion (and die trying, if needed) than wallow in mediocrity with a guy who's just not good enough.
At a point he's going to shoot his shot just to have a path worth pursuing. And if he gets fired, he'll probably just shrug and move along. He can't want to continue to lead 6-9 win football teams for another decade. Not everyone is Carl... [Reply]

I just don’t think Elway can put a coaching staff together that will win with a young team. Or groom a qb. His ego is too big to hire someone who could actually do it. [Reply]

Thanks for giving me some hope. Unfortunately, there are a lot of other bad teams in this league. [Reply]

If there are that many bad teams sticking by their young QBs with Lawrence, Fields, and Lance on the board, the Broncos could just trade up, too. Which they might. They might pay out the ass, but they'd still get what they want/need.
I dunno. I guess I really don't care about all these teams who could suck for these QBs. We have the best QB in the NFL, and seriously... I doubt Lawrence is going to be as good as Mahomes. Prime Andrew Luck wasn't as good as Mahomes, either. We've had "can't miss" guys come and go in the draft process. Many of them end up being very very good. Some are busts.
But when you have the best and will continue to have the best for seasons to come, you don't worry about other good QBs in the league. Somebody has to draft these players. It might be the Donks. Or the Raiders. Or the shitbag "Whoops we sucked so hard we got the #1 overall pick!" Colts. This kind of thing got me worried in the before time, but not anymore.
Let the Donks suck for Lawrence. I don't care. We're still gonna piss pound them as long as we have Mahomes. And hell... just look at last year- for that matter we'll still piss pound them as long as we have Matt Moore. [Reply]
