“Their interest was in creating a series of films that are Star Wars based, we’ve been talking to them for a long time,” Iger said. “They’re focused on a point in time in Star Wars mythology and we’re taking it from there.”
It would be fucking epic to see a trilogy or series of Star Wars films set 1,000 years or more before ANH, when Jedi and Sith numbered in the thousands.
Solid characters, well written stories; all you have to do is properly cast and the product will sell itself. [Reply]

Adapting Feast and Dance is no easy task. They deserve a lot of criticism for the Sneks, but every bit the praise for Hardhome and the high moments of Season 6.
No argument from me. But they are vastly different products. [Reply]
When I first watched the movie I wasn't impressed. It seemed kind of 'off' and I disliked some of the story. Now that I have had time to reflect...The Last Jedi fucking sucked. It was like waiting two years for a delicious chocolate cake to bake only to find a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in the oven when you opened it. Fuck you guys. [Reply]
Hasbro posts surprise revenue drop as Star Wars toys fail to shine
Toymaker Hasbro Inc reported a surprise fall in quarterly revenue on Wednesday due to a decline in sales of its toys based on the Star Wars franchise and the lingering impact of the bankruptcy of retailer Toys 'R' Us.
The company's shares fell 3.2 percent to $90.94 before the bell. The toy industry was jolted by the retailer's collapse last October, forcing Hasbro, rival Mattel and other toy makers to find other outlets for sales during the all-important holiday season. However, 2017 was the worst year for movie ticket sales since 1992, according to Box Office Mojo, as moviegoers lost interest in sequels, in turn affecting the market for toys based on movie characters like Iron Man and Luke Skywalker.
"Our Partner Brands estimate of +8% could be too high as Stars Wars could have been below expectations," D.A. Davidson analyst Linda Weiser wrote in a pre-earnings note.

But hey, Hammock Parties will be here shortly to tell us that Disney and Hasbro are extremely happy with the results of The Last Jedi.

Very true, the production, direction, universe.. pretty much everything that didn't have to do with their writing prowess directly is why Game of Thrones blew up pop culture, they were just smart enough to be the ones to kick the ball.
That said, I'm more hopeful about their trilogy than the one from guy who did ****ing Looper and the garbage that was The Last Jedi :-) [Reply]

I disagree with that. GRRM punched his own dragon sized holes into his story after Swords (this is when the show began to be boom or bust as well).
The holes have put GRRM in such a corner that he's now two years late on his last deadline. [Reply]
