DEN has played some good offenses (not great, let's be clear) and managed to stay in most of those games. The DEN defense has been a large part of that. They would have to be, considering just how bad their offense has been this year.
Are they legitimately the 5th best defense? Maybe not. But are they still a top tier defense? The stats and the eye test say yeah, probably they are.
As for the DEN offense, it's likely that they are really the 27th offense in the league.
The Bills are the 17th best offense this week, btw.
Now, if we were in week 4, the rankings don't mean nearly as much; just not enough data.. But now we're 11 games in and the stats are more meaningful. So if the stats show that the DEN is 5th, that's probably fairly close. Strength of schedule being a part of that equation, of course. [Reply]

Dont blame them, since their season was over in Oct. [Reply]

If they're really 5th, they're the worst 5th best defense of all time. [Reply]

Possibly. The best defenses today aren't as good as the top defenses from 20 or 30 years ago.
And as I stated above, I don't believe that DEN is the 5th best defense. Somewhere in the top 10 maybe. And most of that is due to institutionalization and the talent they have on the roster. [Reply]

If you’re gonna be wrong you may as well make it a glorious achievement. [Reply]

This is the most wrong in the history of the world of being wrong. It needs to be a permanent part of the thread header and permanently stamped to his forehead. [Reply]
