I dont know how you can draft another DE in the first rd after missing on Felix and Karlaftis not performing.
This is just me but I think you let Bolton and Trey walk and do whatever you can to keep Omenihu and Hollywood, who quite honestly should be able to get fair deals from us. Same with DJ Humphries if he lives up to his billing.
Hit the draft aiming for a future CB2, hopefully a pass rusher with really good athleticism and a another weapon for Patrick with those 3 top 70 picks [Reply]

As much as I hate them the Broncos have done a great job of that. Bonitto might be the only blue chipper they have but the rest of those guys are solid pass rushers who get consistent pressure together.
Jonah Ellis looks like their Karlaftis and they got him in rd 3.
They need to keep Uche and Omenihu if possible. Those guys matter a ton.
There are pretty much always a few vet DL out there who sign one-year deals and get double digit sacks.
You have to address pass rush in volume, unless you get an all timer (Aaron Donald, Chris Jones, TJ Watt, etc).
The really good pass rushers can be schemed around if they don’t have help. The game wreckers just do what they do, but those guys are rare.
Several pretty good pass rushers are normally better than just a couple really good ones. [Reply]

He is the NFL’s Shaq right now.
In his prime, Shaq should’ve fouled out the opposing center by halftime. He was so dominant the refs couldn’t call a foul every trip down the floor. [Reply]
Whining about holding and the ref's are what losing franchises like the Bill's do. It's an excuse. Jones gets double teamed all the time. There's no reason one of these other d-lineman or edge rushers can't win one-on-one. It's pathetic. The QB is just sitting back their in zinn flow ****ing state while mediocre o-lineman win against the Chiefs. I have no doubt that Steve has seen this play out and is doing everything in his god given ability to rectify the wack pass rush. It's one of the reasons Veach singed the bum from the Patriots. But somebody other than Chris has to win a one on one. If that's not ever going to happen than I see the Chiefs getting bounced by the second round and it won't be because of bad-calls. [Reply]

I think you could look at those draft classes and come away saying Veach could not have picked anyone better. [Reply]

Karlaftis is in a slump period, but man he is getting close to the QB at times, a little luck and he could easily have a 3 sack game this season. FAU is an inexcusable first round whiff so far [Reply]

Joey Porter Jr. would be an absolute miracle for us right now (and that's not hindsight, he's who I wanted in real time).
The FAU pick is underwater right now. I don't think he's likely to completely bust out, but he has a ways to go to be considered a neutral pick. [Reply]

Same could be said for Hali. This is nothing new.
Other dlineman need to step up.. Dana shows flashes. If he could be more consistent that would really help this D. They looked bad against the Panthers, not a good sign. [Reply]

The issue is we see George's ceiling. It's AT BEST a 10 sack season.
We still have 3-4 more years of prime Jones, and he needs a dude on the line with him who has a FLOOR of 8-10 sack seasons and a ceiling of 15+.
Josh Allen - 40 drop backs. Zero sacks. Yesterday - no pass rush.
You combine that with 3 dudes in the secondary who can't cover and it's a disaster. [Reply]
It's also a prime reason why you can't rely on defense to really translate from year to year in the NFL. To have a legit elite defense....you need alot of things to go right. [Reply]

Yup. And once we lost Waston it really just had a domino effect over the whole defense. [Reply]
