I'd advise KC fans to put a cork on their enthusiasm until Mahomes actually makes it through an entire season."-TombstoneRJ

"You do realize there's a new draft every year...right? As critical as I am of the GM talents of Elway at times, one thing he has which your franchise doesn't, is the fierce will to win. Elway at least tries to fix problems, as he did wth Manning, trading up for Lynch and looking at Oz for four years. The idea that a team is done for the next 15 years simply because they signed what you perceive as a stop gap QB, is simply nonsensical rubbish. If a true franchise QB becomes available in the next two drafts, what makes you think Elway won't move up to get him?

Frankly, I'm not sure that Mahomes is any better than Keenum, and this year at least, he's possibly not as good. Even if Denver falls off, there's no reason to believe KC is the team that would step in to take their place."-footstepsfrom#27

"Basically, at this point, we don't know what Elway can or can't see. We know he missed on two QB's, one who he drafted in the 2nd, and one he drafted in the late 1st round. That guy, BTW...played in the same Air Raid system in college as your revered one-game starter, and if you read his scouting reports, they sound a lot like Mahomes...big arm, mobility, can throw on the run, etc...Elway's mistake was in pushing Lynch too fast. It's worth noting...look it up if you want to...that HALF of ALL NFL first round QB's drafted since 1990, have either outright failed as pure busts, or they've significantly underperformed. Missing on one doesn't tell us much about the ability of the team to draft one. Missing repeatedly, does tell us a lot. That's what the Browns have done. We are a long ways from being in that discussion, and the fact that this one has (so far) failed to impress, is a function of three things;

1) He's an Air Raid QB like Mahomes
2) He was considered a 2-3 year project by scouts
3) He was injured, and he transferred into another offensive system, delaying his progress.

Add that up, and it doesn't suggest his trajectory was to be a success in his second season despite what you're reading in here. My criticism of Elway lies in him being too impatient with this guy. This fanbase is used to winning, and he over played his hand in trying to push him along faster than was wise. We don't know what Lynch is, in spite of the hatred for the guy in here, based on what scouts said he needed vs what he's had so far. On top of this, we also have Kelly, who may prove to be the superior guy anyway. One could actually make a case for Kelly over Mahomes in fact.

There is really no more reason to believe that Mahomes is going to be a raging success than there is to buy into Lynch still being able to achieve that. You're delusional if you think one meaningless game tells you something, it certainly doesn't." -footstepsfrom#27

"One would think he would have at least waited until Mahomes threw his first TD pass in the NFL to predict a 15-year dynasty run. Here's what he's raving about:

Mahomes 22/35, 284 yards, 0 TD's, 1 INT

Compare to Lynch in the same game...who nobody is raving about:

Lynch: 21/31, 254 yards, 2 TD's, 2 INT's

Lynch had a fumble on a sack, but other than that, he wasn't all bad. One of his picks was a bullet that was right on the money, but the DB just made a nice play. His protection sucked, and the run game was no help either. On balance, it was probably a draw.

Not really the stuff of legends, or "generational talent" here."-footstepsfrom#27

"I don't need them to be great, because I know this franchise has a commitment to winning. I know they will do what's necessary. Yours has no such commitment, which is why they won't." -footstepsfrom#27

"My guess is that Alex Smith has a better year than Mahomles." -OldCoyote

"But we got Swag in the wings.
Who scored higher than Maholmes in the only combine like tests that they both took. Link is already in the thread posted by someone else. Kelly is Jim Kelly's nephew. So add Elway and Manning and the kid has 3 HOF level QBs to ask for help. Maholmes has Andy Plumber crack Reid.

League will figure out where the weakness in the in breeders is, then its Dak Prescott syndrome.
Monday, the Broncos D will look to be the guys that expose that weakness. I look forward to it."-OldCoyote

Denver had a very short-lived Marty era with Siemian and Keenum, skipped the Vermeil and Herm eras and went right to Pioli!!! Complete with Flacco playing the Cassel role - and probably Drew Lock, too. I'd imagine there will be no difference in them. It's not like tall gangly goofy fucks ever play any different in the NFL for the most part, and certainly not in Denver post-Manning.

"Anyone in KC is delusional if they think their QB is a cement solid improvement over any in the AFCW. Yes Mahomes showed a lot of promise in his original outings, but remember even Tebow streaked into the playoffs and came out with a divisional win. Lets see how the weight of a whole season feels on his shoulders after opposing DC's get tape on him and his tendencies."-Strip Sacked

"It’s the truth bud. I know you Chief fans just want to assume he’ll be amazing, but so far he’s playing like ass in training camp and preseason. That’s not going to magically change when the games start counting."-Agamemnon

"Especially last year. That they assume Mahomes will be better than Smith was last year is hilarious to me." -Agamemnon

At least no delusions of playoffs this year. Just despair and/or indifference from game 1.

"Mahomes would be a good carnival bet to lead league in INT this year."-DENVERDUI55

"He threw across the grain of the field that he got away with in college and it is going to be picks in the pros. The dropped gimme INT last game was a perfect example. He is going to be a turnover machine early on."-DENVERDUI55
